Capitalism can affect the *intensity* of the consequences of someone's choices. But does it affect the (moral) direction of the choice itself?

Me inheriting $1 million increases the harm I can cause but also the good I can cause. The choice depends on the moral code that *I* choose to follow.

Do cliffhangers even "work"?

Sure, who shot JR galvanized the nation back in the day, but there are so many more shows that are a distraction.

Then there are seasons that pick up 2 or 3 years later make it hard to remember.

Even a year later, 8 episode seasons leaves an 11 month gap.

If companies had a healthier labor pool to hire from it increases competitors for jobs and lowers labor cost long-term. Healthy workers are more productive than sick workers--or workers with sick families.

More productive companies mean more long-term value for shareholders.

The problem is not capitalism but, as usual, PEOPLE making wrong choices.

You know what's good for profits? A healthy labor force that contributes to production and not an excessive drain on resources. That's good for long-term profit.

Instead TPTB, PEOPLE make short-sighted choices.

There are humanitarians in government, but they're not the only ones.

And many humanitarians are not the best at communicating or being persuasive in debates.
