Hello new followers! 👋 I’m a professor by day and am writing a #historicalfiction novel about an early 20thC photographer by night. I teach, research, and write about: #arthistory #visualculture #historyofphotography #animalstudies #environmentalhistory

I live with 2 sassy cats and a house rabbit.
Wait. We get both the #PWHL schedule and a new #TaylorSwift album in the same week? Nice!

If your position is secure enough to permit it, be the person in the room who says no. Be the person in the room prepared to articulate why your organization has no business adopting AI into its operations, why doing so is harmful.
Something really important about organizations’ decisions to adopt AI tools which people need to understand is this: it often comes down to a room of a handful of people who are simply uninformed and think it’s just a new norm they’ll be left behind on if they don’t find a use for it in their work.

just saw someone sincerely arguing that they need AI bc they don't have "natural" artistic talent and idk how to make you understand that nobody comes by this shit naturally. it's just...work. it's being bad at it for a really, really, really long time. it's intention, pursued over time! wtf!!!
Relatable. Just brought my suitcase up from the basement and it had a dried out cat puke puddle on it. Good times.
I think we can all agree that a do-it-yourself writing retreat requires cake. But which kind and how much? 🤔 🍰

Air Filtration Doesn’t Work To Prevent Illness Says Study Done By People Who Didn’t Switch The Air Filters On Properly
Here is something curious: #migraine hit this evening (no surprise given the drastic shift in weather), but the visual aura was not the usual bright white. It was the blue and yellow/gold of the Toronto Sceptres jerseys! #PWHL on the brain? 🤔

The New York Times has installed *Visual Studies*, a series that explores how images move through and shape culture.

Great to see this kind of public attention! Hopefully the academic field with its research traditions is reflected in future contributions too.

Ooh! Thank you. 😊
I had a dream last night in which I turned to my sister and said “Have I talked to you about the magic of freewriting?”

Alright @pwhlcharge.bsky.social - let’s goooo!! Excited for the Walter Cup final. Game 1 tonight. I love the energy of the Ottawa fans. #PWHL #hockey 🏒 🇨🇦
Everyone thinks rabbits are quiet. 😆 📦 🐇
Argh. What a heartbreaker tonight. #TorontoSceptres #PWHL 🏒
Yup… feeling a little ill. 😬

Don't do this, people! Make your own art. AI is straight up stealing.
This thing I found on Instagram seems to be a generative AI version of a comic I made about photographing birds (second image)? Can’t say I like this.
Is it just me, or does my rabbit look like Poirot? 😆 🐇 🕵️

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 489:
You don't need a paper qualification to be a writer. Some courses may give you confidence; or access to other writers; or teach you the nuts and bolts of how to build a novel. But the piece of paper itself doesn't count for anything. Only what you write counts.
Except I’m not loving the booing at the Charge-Victoire game tonight.
Omg. I love playoff hockey! 🏒 #pwhl
Oooh! Sounds interesting. Thanks 😊
Just finished watching Ludwig. Loved it!
