Welcome to BlueSky! I’m Kevin, a software and spaceflight operations engineer at NASA/JPL.

I’m also an expert in planetary image processing and have worked with a number of missions both professionally and as citizen science.

I’ll share space imagery and art as I process it!

I like a good sea breeze and the smell of fried clams, but imagine what you’re suggesting would be worse :-)

Came out pretty nicely. I left this one in the vinegar overnight and applied a firm brushing then a thin layer of mineral oil to bring out the color. Libby should like this :-)

I also have some bleach a few feet away. Would make for a nasty combination…

Not gonna leave them in there too long but it is helping remove some calcium plaque

Have you ever wanted to radio up to a plane and ask them to just most a little bit to the right?
A jet passes near the Moon. It would have been a cool picture if they went across it.

The cracks are probably one or two centimeters apart. As for interest, I’ll leave it to the science team to interpret

Once in a great while I like to post an image without saying what took it and have folks guess if it’s MAHLI or HiRISE :-)

I just like it as a cool picture of a flood basalt event, it’s not something I’d ever put into a textbook. A real artist could do much better and with better scientific accuracy I’m sure.

And believe me, I’m right there with you on the environmental concern with AI.

I don’t usually like AI imagery but this Google Gemini attempt at showing the Siberian Traps is actually pretty good. Not sure how accurate, but still neat to look at. 🌋
