Well done @mumsforlungs.bsky.social

#AirPollution emitted from these cars has killed ~16,000 people in UK & caused 30,000 cases of childhood asthma.
>1m of dirty diesels still on the road. Unlike other countries, UK govt has yet to fine any manufacturer, or force repairs

Action on #Dieselgate is taking an “outrageous” amount of time, leaving more than a million dirty diesels still on the road today. This isn't just a corporate scandal, but a #Health scandal as well. It's time the car manufacturers paid. #AirPollution
‘Little lungs are paying’: why the Dieselgate scandal is still running hot
Carmakers accused of cheating air pollution rules have faced little punishment in UK but trial brought by 1.8m motorists is about to begin

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

#BreastCancer is the most common cancer among women globally and represents approximately a quarter of all cancers that occur in women every year.
Breast cancer is highly curable if detected in its early stages and adequate treatment is provided.

Too many crashes outside my parents’ house - one killed a postman on his bike. Then I started cycling in Brum. That’ll radicalise anyone 🥲

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

Wish I could say it comes as a massive surprise that there's an overlap between the flag people and suspected fraudsters, but this is great work by the @birminghamdispatch.bsky.social.

Really happy to see Birmingham city centre becoming more walkable, cycle-friendly, and accessible! 🧑🏽‍🦽🚶‍♂️🚲 New lighting, surfacing, and signs should make getting around easier and safer for everyone - and every step away from cars is a win for cleaner air 💚

Liz from @mumsforlungs.bsky.social reminded us that Manchester is the most polluted city in the UK, with a recent 33% increase in babies and toddlers admitted to hospital with breathing issues. Political leadership and School Streets needed in Manchester and across UK. 🚸

Over 24,000 children in Birmingham are living with #Asthma. The Clean Air Zone has reduced #AirPollution by 17%, but the toxic air in #Birmingham is still having a "devastating impact" on communities.

We shouldn’t be idling cars - it’s harmful to people around our vehicles

Some councils warn they will fine you, ie neighbours Richmond, ours might put up a few signs

Good to hear Andy Street call out Robert Jenrick - but why did he feel the need to drag up the “riots” of the 80s? 🤔
They were in Lozells, not Handsworth, but the press got it wrong and the name stuck.
Also… that was 40 years ago!
