Blocked, and reported!

That part was the big tell.

In terms of profitability, sure. But as I understand it, a lot of solar fields are owned by relatively small, local producers, including local utilities. The amount of capital, and thus the lobbying capacity, isn’t anywhere near what the carbon-fueled industries are rocking.

Short thread about how DHS, ICE, and cops in general just freely lie.

First, the lie:

UPDATE: In emailed statement to me / @reason.com, DHS alleges that WGN-TV producer Debbie Brockman "threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer."
Screencap of email from DHS public affairs: Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin:

“U.S. Border Patrol was conducting immigration enforcement operations and when several violent agitators used their vehicles to block in agents in an effort to impede and assault federal officers. In fear of public safety and of law enforcement, officers used their service vehicle to strike a suspect’s vehicle and create an opening. As agents were driving, Deborah Brockman, a U.S. citizen, threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer.

“This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of illegal aliens violently resisting arrest and agitators and criminals ramming cars into our law enforcement officers. These attacks highlight the dangers our law enforcement officers face daily—all while receiving no pay thanks to the Democrats’ government shutdown.”

He’s just following orders. Specifically, the orders given to him by executives who run coal- and gas-fired power plants.

When fucking Norm Ornsteins is going after a fellow Republican? Ooof.

That’s class warfare. Lox and cream cheese is a $29 breakfast.

Fair. Anyway, I live in Chicago, so it would be weird for me to be the Mayor of New York.
klocktower.org
Well, yeah.

And you're in a much better position to make it stop than the rest of us are, so.... get on it, I guess? Let us know when there's something we can do to support your efforts.

Poppie seed bagel with plain cream cheese.

I mean, if I had been making odds, it wouldn’t have been the longest shot out there.
klocktower.org
Yeah, it sure does seem like a lot, just to have a bunch of Chicagoans correctly explain what an asshole you are to you.

But, I guess these men will do *anything* but go to therapy…
klocktower.org
Oh, for sure! I’m just saying, the Federal government being shut down doesn’t directly impact the Texas Guard being paid. If they don’t get paid (and, to your point, maybe they won’t) that’s strictly a Texas problem!
klocktower.org
National Guard are paid by their States.

Thank you, Senator, for your support.

I just also wanted to say, as a Chicagoan, we are not intimidated.

I’m glad to have you on our side.

It seems like they're just regular cops from other suburbs, on loan to Broadview, so they should be accountable to both Broadview PD and the PD they actually work for.

"should" is carrying a lot of weight there, I know...
klocktower.org
As far as I can tell, that just means that these are cops from other suburbs within Cook County, that Broadview asked to come in on loan.
klocktower.org
Good to see that people know which side they're on, here.
klocktower.org
Thank you for raising the alarm, Senator.
klocktower.org
Yeah. That’s not going to work out the way they think it will.

I experienced something like this in middle school, too, except it was bibles.

Like, it would seems weird to me to suggest that, let’s say, pi, phi, or delta, is a mathematical symbols *and not* normal letters in the Greek alphabet.

The use of Fraktur characters as mathematical symbols is no different: they’re just normal letters.
klocktower.org
But I think maybe I missed your original point? Perhaps you were just pointing out that one can use a math notation program with this character set installed to replicate a version of Fraktur? In which case, sure. That’s how computer fonts work.
