Chicago: your Cook County Commissioner is up for re-election in the Democratic Primary this coming March.

Ask the candidates running, especially the incumbent, whether they support this crap.
the cook county sheriff's office is the second-largest agency, behind the massive cook county health system.

despite a sagging jail population and the end of the sheriff's electronic monitoring program, sheriff tom dart's budget is set to grow by $64 million, to roughly $815 million.

background:
Cook County chief judge takes over electronic monitoring
On April 1, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office began shuttering one of the country’s largest and most restrictive electronic monitoring programs.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Just finished Death by Lightning. There's no way that Chester Arthur was really like this, but Hail to the fictionalized Chief, the President that we deserved then, and that we deserve now
Really enjoyed watching Nick Offerman as Chester Arthur in Death by Lightning. #FunWithPhotoshop

It's much simpler than that. The Boy Scouts aren't maximally cruel to trans kids and so Republicans believe it should be destroyed.

I'm gonna be contrary and instead give good food takes

- spaghetti is super yummy
- there are few drinks tastier than apple juice
- ice cream is a great way to pack calories if you have med related appetite problems
my take on Food Discourse is that it's always ridiculous but it's also nice to be fighting about dumb internet shit again instead of dealing with Oppressive Despair all the time so please keep posting your bad takes

I can't imagine why the opposition party doesn't have a detailed regulatory policy proposal to match the "plan" of a kleptocracy shoving billions at its cronies.
Only Republicans have a plan for A.I., David Byler writes. “Democrats, at best, have concepts of a plan. And if they want to stay relevant in 2028, they need to plan carefully now,” he says.
Opinion | A.I. Dominates Our World. Why Don’t Democrats Have a Plan?
To stay relevant for 2028, the party needs to figure one out.

I think this NVIDIA Enron thing might have slightly jokerfied me. I occasionally laugh and mutter "we are NOTHING like ENRON." It's so funny. Like NVIDIA genuinely does not seem to be like Enron! Right? Why did you mention Enron? Why are you trying to "dodge the Enron allegations"?
