While I've thankfully not experienced the endless helicopters all day and night that Minneapolis gets regularly, living near a base that is a regular training site for both Black Hawks and Chinooks is still very tiring.
Four Black Hawks and a Chinook all out at the same time seems like a truly excessive amount of military helicopters

It just adds a nice bit of authenticity to a highly-produced music video when the artist is singing into an SM58 with a very dented windscreen

Weird how since we got residential fiber internet in town last year, Spectrum no longer sells "cable internet" and now sells "high speed internet powered by fiber and delivered by high frequency cable".

NEW VIDEO: North America’s Elevator’s Problem

Elevators are absolutely essential to modern cities..... and it turns out North America kind of sucks at them. We partnered with @sightline.org to look into the many issues plaguing our elevator industry, and what it might take to fix it.
The United States has the fewest elevators in the rich world, with Canada only a bit ahead. We teamed up with @uytaelee.bsky.social of About Here Videos to investigate why, exactly, North America sucks at elevators.

I was going to say "I can see my house from here!" because of the map preview cropped to Massachusetts, but I actually can't see my house because that part of the map is too deeply dark magenta to read the labels.
If you're looking to move and want to know where to find queer neighborhoods in new cities, I made a map for that across the US

I didn't know track geometry cars needed a mascot, but it seems they do and we have one.

Very much not used to my industry being the one getting special consideration from politicians. I guess our lobbyists from Big Theater got to him.
New York City is the cultural capital of the world and art shouldn’t be a luxury only some of us can afford. I’m grateful for Under the Radar Theater Festival’s generosity and partnership towards that vision as they announce 1,500 free tickets for New Yorkers.

Not that I'm suggesting anyone should join the real military either, but this is specifically a job for people who want camo and guns without needing to sleep anywhere not in a hotel bed.
I'd love to see a reporter ask rank-and-file ICE agents if they understand that the administration is clearly hoping one of them gets killed out there.

"Are you ready to give your life to become a meme pushed by incels on Twitter for a couple days?"
The White House surely wants to see one of these ICE crackdowns lead to violent pushback. They've got untrained unqualified goons acting with impunity. It seems deliberately designed to provoke an incident.

But do the goons get this? Do they know the big plan is to get a couple of them killed?

Just realized my @letterboxd.social profile still had a prominent Twitter link. I disconnected that old account and added bsky as my website link, but I'd love to see the old Twitter integration brought back as a Bluesky one!

ICE prevented a doctor from providing care to the victim.
They were not in fear for their lives.
They are refusing to give up the ID of the agent.
They are not going to allow anyone to receive punishment.

They think they can kill you and anyone else and it doesn't matter because they are above you.
ICE murdered a woman in Minneapolis and immediately turned around and blamed her for her own murder. Nobody is going to be punished for this and our neighbors are being rounded up into camps already.

You do not hate the modern Gestapo enough. Pride is and always will be a fucking riot, y'all.

WiFi (and other data wireless) is a technology that we use so frequently and ubiquitously that it's easy to think of as a "solved" engineering problem but remains very nuanced.

WiFi and BT, both hub/spoke and mesh work well enough in *some* percentage of cases that we don't analyze performance.

React Native promises to make everything cross-platform, yet inevitably we still end up with an ecosystem of iOS only or iOS first apps, just now they've got abstraction layers from native builds.
i remember when i switched from android to iOS last year, my first reaction upon using the Bluesky app on the iPhone was "ooooh so that's why you people never complain about how slow and buggy it is"

Despite growing up right during the start of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, I was very fortunate to be raised in strong leftist tradition including attending anti-war protests and being the one student in school who knew I couldn't be forced to participate in flag pledges.
