i'm watching in real time across facebook groups, texts from family and updates from SSIP as HSI posts up in my hometown and the areas where i grew up in the southwest suburbs, which have a large immigrant population. people are disappearing off the street and there is legitimately minimal coverage.

Some of us left our homes in the clothes we slept in when the first alert went out this morning and patrolled all day. Extra volunteers showed up for ICE patrols around local schools this afternoon as parents picked up their children.

Attys for IL and Chicago have reviewed the proposed order and are requesting more guardrail language to prevent the deployment of Texas or any other state's guard to Illinois. Perhaps just using the catch-all of "United States" national guard.
