If we can’t even talk in general terms about MPs’ workload- which MPs of all parties agree is v casework- heavy and getting heavier- without a lot of responses being to assume that MPs are not telling the truth/just whinging/ working on the wrong things etc- then I think we’re in a bad place

right, today at lunchtime I poured myself a big steaming cup of boiling water and nothing else (?) then I went to take the tube and tried to swipe in using my house keys, so I am declaring the work week to be formally over even if it is 15.48pm, enough is enough

oh yes absolutely! but I guess also my point was that knowing you're flawed means that you just can't approach most human interactions by assuming you're inherently better than the person you're eg arguing with (which is why your original post made me think of that piece again!)

I think about this a lot and found that, weirdly, the pandemic really helped my thinking on this, as it made me confront what I'd always suspected, namely that I'm actually pretty selfish and deeply flawed - and I'm fine with that
