Hi everyone, I’m a reality show editor who also writes things for fun. You can find examples of my work in this thread. The first is a quick and deeply silly piece of flash fiction in the style of a Hollywood memoir:
ANNOUNCEMENT: So for the last few months i’ve been hard at work on a novel, and therefore don’t have anything new in the way of detective stories, or anything else.

But I wanted to put *something* out there, so this is a quick little 5 minute humor piece.

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

I would give Andy Goldsworthy the budget of a Mr. Beast project and commission an installation in all 50 states. Statistically speaking most of them would come together beautifully at this point in his career but there would still be some catastrophes, and there’s your documentary
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

The technology basically peaked. It's all incremental tinkering now. Like with digital cameras - the technical differences between the highest end products are only of interest to a tiny percentage of experts. Which might be part of the reason for "AI" being pushed in everything.
My phone is doing all the same things from 2015 with only minimal benefits. The only reason we have to upgrade is increased software bloat.

We should actually just have phones that last 15 years now.

my 2 year old asked my 5 year old what a "Pokemon" is and she said "its a weird animal that has unique powers" and tbh that's a lot better than I would've done trying to explain the concept

I wish they treated the presidential turkey pardon a little more like professional wrestling, and had like a senator from the opposing party sharpening a carving knife and licking his chops until the pardon goes through, and then he throws up his hands and storms out

We warned you that self-driving cars would just create self-driving traffic jams, and here they are.

The car industry has no solution to the shortage of space in cities. Public transit, cycling, and walking are all part of the answer, but cars are not.
Waymo privatized another public street:

Chanel approaching 4th, San Francisco

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.

The story told here--one where anecdata suggests agency and autonomy have run amok and nameless activists are to blame--certainly rhymes with the NYT's disastrous panic about trans kids. Then you realize it's literally being written by the same author.

Betteridge’s law of headlines
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?
