I think a big corollary to this is the extent to which "drawing attention" is in the 2020's a process controlled by money and gatekept by elites
i think a (perhaps underappreciated) aspect of this whole situation is the extent to which every elite profession is filled with people who excel at drawing attention and want to be famous more than they want to do the actual job

It feels very unfair to compare Cuomo-era climate plans with Hochul-era climate reality, while ignoring that the Cuomo-era reality was that 2 gigawatts of clean power came *off* the grid in one fell swoop at Indian Point – more than twice the solar/wind we have in total today!

My dad was a state judge and made me take the KERRY EDWARDS bumper sticker off my car in 2004 because the title was in his name.
When I was a judicial law clerk in Montana, Pres Bush flew into the Billings airport for a rally.

I wanted to see Air Force One and asked the judge I clerked for if I could go. He said no, that it wouldn’t be appropriate.

And I was just a clerk. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/10/u...
