and all the wacky schemes for where to put solar panels being replaced by "just put thousands of them up in fields and deserts in the middle of nowhere" - so cheap that it's making rooftop solar installations economically unviable

I literally do not understand why they cannot provide the original video file that the screen recording was made from? Maybe it's in some exotic proprietary security camera format but that's a solvable problem bsky.app/profile/moh-...
A friend does AV in the Scottish court system and any edits or format changes are banned which (annoying as it is) seems necessary, especially reading this nonsense

there was a minute where it seemed like the final outcome could potentially be mass solar + thousands of pumped hydropower reservoirs for storage, which was much more romantic and interesting than "container-sized batteries sitting in electric substations"

forcing the octogenarian justices to read their opinions out loud on camera would probably produce shorter rulings and fewer tedious dissents

ya in the sense of the /r/techsupportgore subreddit

Anyway all this is hilarious but the actual shitty fucked up video that they did release clearly shows someone going up to Jeffrey Epstein's jail tier who shouldn't be there so maybe we should focus more on that! www.cbsnews.com/news/epstein...
Who entered Epstein's jail tier the night of his death? Newly released video logs appear to contradict official accounts.
Newly released documents from the Epstein files raise more questions about activity seen on video from the jail the night he died.

Its funny that this is maybe the most insane scandal in American political history: full of sex, money and murder and the reaction all us dorks have is like "wait, ffmpeg stands for something?!" bsky.app/profile/swol...
Raise your hand if youve been using ffmpeg since college and had no idea that it stood for fast forward moving picture expert group [the file format standardized by the group, not the group itself]
I didn't expect the Jeffrey Epstein story to contain assistant editor workflow gore but lmao

i was one high school distrct over from Ed Norton (whose grandfather also founded the town)

fair!
February 12, 2026 at 5:35 AM
Lol
February 12, 2026 at 5:32 AM
But I think ffmpeg has no affiliation with the Moving Pictures Expert Group and the software is named after the codec that MPEG developed?
February 12, 2026 at 5:31 AM
I knew MPEG stood for something like that (though always thought it was "motion picture experts group) in part because I had once erroneously thought it was the name of my union (motion picture editors guild) which has the same acronym bsky.app/profile/bubb...
i have been using ffmpeg for maybe 20 years? and didn't know it stood for anything?
February 12, 2026 at 5:30 AM
FBI guys if you're listening: if you really are just stupid about this stuff, i will fix your workflow problems. my rate is very reasonable

The fate of the Republic hinges on what ffmpeg preset this dumbass who was converting the screen recording was using bsky.app/profile/adje...
Fast Forward Moving Picture Expert Group

When expanding the acronym confuses you more.

Also "we only have a backup not the original" doesn't explain why they used screen capture software for it? Am I losing my mind?

It's like that political compass where each quadrant is "everything is X except actual X, which is fine" but for anti-social behavior

Idk the details for former cable stars like Piven but when I worked in soaps there was absolutely a circuit of stuff like this - appearances, cruises, fantasy camps - for washed up soap stars, that you'd see advertised for in Soap Opera Digest and ABC Soaps in Depth bsky.app/profile/dire...
Serious question, is this a (semi)regular thing? Just can't see it being viable at all for anyone below say Corey Feldman level.

it would make sense if you're only expecting to sell 15-20 tickets to this thing total, which may be the case
February 12, 2026 at 2:35 AM
i would read/watch a deep dive on the economics of the "washed up actor meet and greet" circuit bsky.app/profile/josh...
Totally not the pt, but the $40 difference b/t general admission and VIP seating next to Piven seems weird. Like, you’re spending $110, why not pony up the extra $40 to sit at the table? And what if lots of people do this; does it become dais seating? And then if so, do you feel pissed you paid $40?

ok i guess i need to admit i've only seen about 15 minutes total of ENTOURAGE bsky.app/profile/bsdt...
He was like that during the actual show…took a gig singing a Four Seasons song for a girl’s sweet 16 party after a film flopped and he was broke.
