I know everyone thinks this about the parking lot at whatever Trader Joe's they shop at, but I would like to nominate Bressi Ranch's Trader Joe's as the most comically undersized, badly designed and psychotic TJ's parking lot in America. A real exemplar

there's a couple of what Nolan's talking about here - new sprawl-oriented neighborhoods but with a walkable-ish retail town center - in North County San Diego: Bressi Ranch and San Elijo Hills. And the result is they are two of the most expensive and desirable neighborhoods in the US

Not trying to call out this guy in particular so cropping out his name but: this is pathetic defeatism and if you think about the problem in seriously in a historical light for even like 15 minutes the way out of it becomes both obvious and plainly achievable (not to say it won't be difficult)

RIP to iconic architect Frank Gehry.
Definitely not his most famous building, but the Gehry design I like the best is the former Rouse Company HQ in my hometown of Columbia, MD. An understated and elegant design that fits beautifully with its lakeside setting.

Deleted this thread about Waymo's study of AV safety because I claimed they didn't adjust for road type when they did in fact make spatial adjustments to account for it.
