I have several American friends and it's hard to convince the majority of them that even if it's unlikely to happen Canadians don't treat this as a "haha ol' Trump again is up to his antics." And that Americans treating it like a big joke is just making us exasperated
In a normal world, "US treasury secretary endorses American annexation of Canadian territory" should be front page news

My Twitter algorithm is almost exclusively what I assume to be some sort of influence operation centred around Americans seizing Canada and how easy and awesome it would be. The rest of my feed is just MAGA operating in a reality where Trump is right 100% of the time. Absolutely useless platform

To be clear I think with 100% certainty that we will not be invaded in any capacity by the US. I just think they're going to be super annoying and passive aggressive to us until the next election

To be clear I think with 100% certainty that we will not be invaded in any capacity by the US. I just think they're going to be super annoying and passive aggressive to us until the next election
The Alberta separatist movement is such an own goal because it's basically willingly turning yourself into a Petro state enclave under the pretense of citizens fundamentally misunderstanding what the responsibility of the federal vs provincial govt is.
I am living the nightmare right now in Alberta. Separatists are collecting signatures to initiate a separation referendum. The movement boasts political and financial support from the US. The organizers say they have met the US State Dept several times and have their full support.
