Apparently you can chain the "fall down into hop" mechanic infinitely in tight spaces with good timing.

As an amateur musician, I can recommend FL Studio. I think it is the easiest program to learn and has a simple interface. If you look at free options, you can try LMMS in conjunction with SoundFonts.
