This is the perfect metaphor though. An empty jar, with additional work attached to it. I had a full enough docket just trying to meet admin’s outlandish expectations, I didn’t need to pencil in performative gratitude for their fake support.

I’ve added two new mantras/phrases/whatevers to my brain: “Don’t trust what your brain says about you after 9pm” and also “talk to your anxious thoughts like your best friend would”. Saying “bitch what the fuck are you even talking about rn” to my anxiety is pretty great ngl

I think you should force yourself to interact with art that's "bad" every so often. read a cringy fanfic. play a tiny game. watch a subpar movie. see an amateur play. experience art that's not "masterpieces" because "bad" art deserves to exist and can sometimes give you more emotion than "good" art

If that intimidates you, if you feel like there is nothing you can actively do, remember that the very least you can do as a white person is to educate yourself. From there if you can at least educate one other person, it’s something. And something is better than nothing. Nothing is complacency.
