He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.

I love photographing nature. Further, there are endless photographic possibilities when immersing yourself in forests. Both forest types - the well kept and paved, as well as the 100% natural and relatively untouched forest land.

書名翻譯過來是《多彩的二律背反》，頗有意味，很符合漫畫想講述的女性困境、同輩/親情/社會帶來的壓力、友情互助等等問題。

東亞女性的困境相似度太高了，然而不同國家在細分類上，又有不同程度的不可理喻。有許多事情不是簡單的「那你逃跑不就行了」和「你倒是反抗啊」就能解決的。

自認精神不自立的女主角，第一次嘗試使用交友App，誤打誤撞地認識了性格自主的另一位女性，並以這份友情為起點，察覺出自己的討好型人格傾向，以及在男女交往、親情等人際中的「不自在」。
諸如學生時代開始的小圈子話題不再相融；而以交友App為開端的新友情圈，卻發展成可以一起喝酒歡笑，也能哭訴不安的交情。

故事基本以女主角/友人的困境為主軸，描述不同女性的友情觀、異性觀、親情觀，連金錢和喜好等等小細節都有涉及。
可以說是完全女性中心/視點的故事，是兼具社會性、真實度和小糾結的青年漫畫。

我對這個題材和敘事風格感覺比較一般，但創作者真的很用心在雕琢故事，各國的翻譯版在歐美地區反響也不錯。動畫能做得好的話，也是對忠心讀者的一種好回饋

白浜鴎‬老師的《尖帽子的魔法工坊》自2016年開始漫畫連載，2022年就有動畫化的消息，現在終於宣佈明年開播。
十年磨一劍的用心原作，屬於不怎麽命中我喜好區，但依然希望能得到精細製作和推廣的作品。
