The Trump administration claims troops are necessary to protect ICE if local enforcement won’t. AG Weiser said local law enforcement in Colorado can help protect ICE agents without violating the state law that limits cooperation on immigration enforcement.

‪Weiser urged ICE protesters to remain peaceful to keep from playing into Trump’s narrative that troops are needed. “Do not engage. Do not escalate,” he said. “If we can keep calm, be peaceful and be orderly, we are going to be able to keep the rule of law in our Republic.”‬
