Which mainline DC books do you like best right now? I’m all over the Absolutes and Fraction Batman, but what else has been working for you since All In or whichever launch?

I’m sure I’ll try an issue on Infinite. But kinda feels like that chapter of my interests has closed.

It will be. That’s why it got pushed back to August.

On the latter front, I feel like people don’t talk about Steve Martin’s filmography anymore.

throwing this prompt from Twitter in here. what examples you got?
tweet by @Caol_MacCormaic that reads, uncs of film twitter: what are some movies that are canonical now but were basically unknown when we were coming up? like Come and See or Possession. inversely: what are some movies or filmmakers that seem to have fallen off? (Takashi Miike comes to mind)

Also, Puerto Rico is kinda conservative? Their weird antipathy towards PR statehood is just rooted in straight up racism than any political opportunism.

“foreign base on US soil” seems like the kind of thing that could play very badly with low-info voters without a whole lot of work

Just cut an almost twenty minute video in praise of the Phantasm franchise. Should be up tomorrow if I can get it in gear.

It’s when the drums kick in and totally fail to sync with “Swammmp Thinngg” that I start to lose it every time

But I guess somebody realized they either didn’t get permission or they didn’t want to pay residuals to The Troggs so they changed the music for repeats…except they didn’t redo the vocals and did a halfassed job of trying to blend the two together. It’s hilarious. youtu.be/VW4ZlO5p86Y?...

Since today is a big Swamp Thing day, I can’t let it pass without sharing my favorite piece of trivia. In the 80’s and early 90’s, the character was popular enough to have two movies, a multi-season show and a cartoon. That cartoon’s theme was a ripoff of “Wild Thing” youtu.be/3H5zXh6MVvg?...

I am very proud of this collection

Last night, I finished THE ESSENTIAL HORROR OF JOE R. LANSDALE, a new collection out this week from @TachyonPub.

What a great collection! Every single story was superb: engaging, skillfully told and a little bit weird. Lansdale is simply a masterful storyteller.

I definitely attended two different Vertigo launch press events at SDCC for “the new line” over the last 10-15 years and it sounded a good bit like this - Veitch aside. Really hope it works this time.

There’s a sense of “we’ve all danced to this tune a bunch” but I hope it works. A couple of the books I plan to check out when they hit Infinite, if not all of them.

I hear you. And while to me Vertigo at its best was literary spins on those pre-established properties, there’s probably little money in a new take on Brother Power The Geek or whatever.

But at the same time, this lineup kinda feels like the sort of thing they always relaunch Vertigo with.
