it certainly did not help that i rewatched Close Encounters of the Third Kind before watching Is This Thing On?, because the contrast *really* highlighted how absolutely full of shit it is as a "divorce" movie

I think my experience and thoughts on Hamnet are largely shaped by being a person who sits in a darkened booth, behind glass showing movies to an audience that 90% of the time doesn't even know someone is there doing that. Of being that last link in the chain between artist > audience.

Hamnet, the rare case of a film where i think all the criticisms are correct, but the movie worked on me, and not cheaply i don't think
