i need to buy a new 12V-5A power supply ASAP, and am discovering that Staples and Best Buy are absolutely useless. online shopping was a mistake.

i love A24, the director of so many wonderful films
Glen Powell, Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, and Ed Harris star in the first trailer for A24's 'How To Make A Killing' - in theaters February 20.

Sloss Furnaces is so cool. one of the most memorable stops on my road trip through the South. if you’re ever passing through Birmingham, Alabama, go check it out.

speaking of Star Wars, here's the creator of the OG "Despecialized" versions (who it turns out is Czech?!) talking about the leaks from Disney's official restoration of the theatrical cuts

this is the only way i'll watch Rogue One now, and i have to say, a lot of the reason it works is that chopping it up into chunks makes it feel more like television, and television is a lesser medium, befitting a lesser film
don't normally watch fan edits, but i found one of Rogue One that chops it into three episodes, edits story a bit and for tone, and then completely re-scores it with music from Andor and some other sources

basically, the edit makes Rogue One into a three-episode Andor arc, structurally and tonally

the best thing to come out of Star Wars post-Jedi is the Red Letter Media review of Phantom Menace... unfortunately, also the worst thing
November 24, 2025 at 8:53 PM
the correct ranking is: Star Wars > Empire > Return of the Jedi > a bunch of shit that in retrospect should never have been made

Andor innocent
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

Iñárritu holds a special place in my heart, because seeing Babel with a group of friends who were all going on about how it was one of the most amazing things they'd ever seen, while i argued it was one of the worst crimes a human ever committed... formative experience

something i've noticed about the more down reactions to Sentimental Value is the number of people who cite the scene with the sisters as the one emotional moment that really works, while the rest of the movie doesn't have that

but like... it takes a whole movie's worth of setup to get there!

so sad to hear Udo Kier has died. one of the great working actors, and i was so happy to be reminded at TIFF, seeing him deliver a pretty astonishing little performance in The Secret Agent.

pretty good! you wish Greene was at least a bit more charismatic, but the older Robin take works, and i like that it’s about an assassination plot

now watching the Hammer Robin Hood movie Sword of Sherwood Forest, and y’know, pretty good

Wicked 2 shouldn’t be nominated for any Oscars because it’s one of the worst films of the year, and even its theoretical merits (production design and… production design) are pretty hideously rendered onscreen

Wicked must be understood as a Gen X text

it's not anything remotely new, but lately i've been more attuned to people reacting to movies (and art) with comments like, "Why did that happen?" and, "I don't understand what it's trying to say," and leaving it at that, as though those are meaningful criticisms

those are invitations to think!
