Philadelphia sheriff Rochelle Bilal:

“No law enforcement professional wears a mask…No law enforcement professional shoots at a moving vehicle.

“What Trump’s private army is doing…is not only against legal law, but moral law.”

January at the movies is really giving: on top of Avatar, Marty Supreme, and The Housemaid still going strong, you've got The Secret Agent, The Plague, Hamnet, and Testament of Ann Lee expanding, plus Primate, Bone Temple, Dead Man's Wire, Greenland 2, The Moment, and Sam Fuckin' Raimi's Send Help

started reading a negative Letterboxd review, and very quickly realized it was just a terrible piece of criticism, and then scrolled to see how long the review was, and i swear to god, i think i'm still scrolling

after seeing The Secret Agent again last night, i've decided Wagner Moura should win the Oscar for Best Actor, and not just because i interviewed him last year at TIFF
‘The Secret Agent’ Is More Than Just a Great Political Thriller
‘Narcos’ star Wagner Moura talks about his role in director Kleber Mendonça Filho's '70s-set Brazilian drama and how life under the Bolsonaro regime shaped their collaboration.

The Plague is great. tweenage bullying dynamics as psychological thriller. it’s got lighting! and blocking! and it’s well written and the kids are great. it’s also real as hell. tense and upsetting.

okay, how the fuck was The Plague not some big A24 or Neon pickup with like a major release?

critical detail i've said again and again is every actor on The Pitt is doing TV Acting, which is a special kind of acting that I don't know if I could describe but it is 100% anti movie star (or even character actor bit)

love a big, wide establishing shot in a Nolan movie, because he still uses helicopters

I finally sat down with maybe THE perennial Brandon Guy, Gerard Butler, and had a great conversation about Greenland 2, the differences in his many action heroes and a tiny bit on Den of Thieves 3. You can read it here:

www.menshealth.com/entertainmen...
Gerard Butler’s Most Powerful Weapon? Relatability.
The star of 'Greenland 2: Migration' has been beating up bad guys and saving the world for a long time—but always wants his characters to be someone you can recognize from the real world.
