can’t believe the guy funding the war managed to end the war. how’d he do it? what’s his secret?

five-star. three-star.

i’ll just say that TRON: LEGACY is a thoroughly mediocre film and an incredible audio/visual experience for when you’re in the right…state of mind. (see also: JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE SNYDER CUT)

Pretty confused by how TRON became a big-budget movie franchise. Was it a bit hit when it came out? No. Did it become a big hit on video/TV? Also no. Do people have fond nostalgic memories of it? Eh kinda but not really. Was it secretly great and critically acclaimed? No again

Mamdani got the Satmar endorsement. it’s over.

the Ares script makes the Legacy script look like Casablanca

he’s such a specific shade of perpetually pissed off

Elisha Cook Jr. cameo!

THAT’S FUCKING RIGHT!

the 3D in this is fucking nuts, deep to the point that if you move your head left or right, the parallax effect is hilariously extreme

keeping the 3D day going with I, the Jury, the 1953 3D noir, based on the Spillane book

biodigital jazz, man

thing about Kosinski is he’s an architectural filmmaker, so not only is the production design on point, he has a real understanding of movement through space, and man, this movie is just so fluid, so slick, even when the script starts to fall apart in the second half
coreyatad.com
and sorry, but this Daft Punk score is some of the best film music of all time, Trent and Atticus didn’t stand a chance
coreyatad.com
god fucking damn this movie rules, the first hour in particular

what’s funny is Kosinski also stole from Fincher, getting Claudio Miranda right after Benjamin Button, and pulling Haygood, who edited a bunch of Fincher videos, including Vogue, and did The Game through Panic Room

but here, it works
coreyatad.com
yeah fuck it, why not

might have to put on Tron Legacy 3D just to get that other crap outta my system
coreyatad.com
so they pilfered from the Fincher stable, grabbing Leto, NIN, Cronenweth, and Nelson, and the result is like if Fincher got brain damage and also had a five-year-old polish the script with ChatGPT

hardly a worthwhile image, and worse, no sense of dynamism, let alone the psychedelia of Legacy
coreyatad.com
never mind the terrible script for a moment (which is bad in serious, structural ways), or the unpleasant void that is Jared Leto

this movie so completely completely confuses an “aesthetic” for cinema that its coolness, its sleekness, only ever blunts itself
coreyatad.com
went to see Tron, of course, in IMAX 3D

christ what an awful movie, real garbage, even the NIN score is kinda mid compared to other scores of theirs

somebody should make a movie about Batman

my mom’s most charming mom quality is that she loves Roz & Mocha and is always recounting their goofy morning radio segments

reminds me of this classic Castaway trailer that ends with the final scene

y'know, in a way i appreciate that the marketing team on Hamnet said, "Fuck it, we're giving away the entire movie, beginning to end"

truth is, you hear the premise of the movie, you already know, it's just a matter of getting there, and imo the movie really, really does
