So true. I went a little Criterion-crazy over the weekend and finally pulled the trigger on The Before Series. Criterion releases are, themselves, art. I will say that if one were to rip their collection for personal use, one might watch the special features MORE than when using the disc!

Or maybe, just maybe, what was obvious in 2024 was correct: Netanyahu fully backed Trump and would not deal with Biden because Trump would give him a free hand to escalate the starvation, bombing, and do full ethnic cleansing. Which he then did, until Netanyahu embarrassed him by bombing Qatar.

The ads will run in over 185 local papers and The New York Times, USA Today and The Washington Post calling on Americans to “peacefully protest our false king."

Mr. Benioff spoke as his annual Dreamforce conference is set to begin Tuesday in downtown San Francisco, bringing 50,000 visitors to the city. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address about the benefits of "agentic enterprise," a business model in which humans and artificial intelligence bots work together.
Speaking by telephone from his private plane en route to San Francisco, he lamented that he has to pay for nundreds of off-duty law enforcement officers to help patrol the convention area and said that San Francisco needed to "re-fund" the police.
The city never actually "defunded" its police force, and San Francisco's violent crime rates are below those in many other U.S. cities.
But San Francisco has struggled to recruit and keep officers, and it still has problems with lower-level crimes and open-air drug use, especially in neighborhoods like the Tenderloin near City Hall. It has about 1,500 police officers, and Mr. Benioff says it ne → another thousand.

Wow, this extract from Wolff's book is a shocking insight into Trump's mind:

On his first night in the White House, President Trump complained that the TV in his bedroom was broken, because it didn't have "the gorilla channel.” Trump seemed to be under the
impression that a TV channel existed that screened nothing but
gorilla-based content, 24 hours a day.
To appease Trump, White House staff compiled a number of gorilla documentaries into a makeshift gorilla channel, broadcast into Trump's bedroom from a hastily-constructed transmission tower on the South Lawn. However, Trump was unhappy with the channel they had created, moaning that it was "boring"
because "the gorillas aren't fighting".
Staff edited out all the parts of the documentaries where gorillas weren't hitting each other, and at last the president was satisfied. "On some days he'll watch the gorilla channel for 17 hours straight," an insider told me. "He kneels in front of the TV, with his face about four inches from the screen, and says encouraging things to the gorillas, like 'the way you hit that other gorilla was good'. I think he thinks the gorillas can hear him."

United States attorneys offices all have prosecutorial guidelines – amounts of financial loss or property damage, etc. below which they won’t bring a case. I’ve never heard of a financial fraud guideline loss threshold anywhere near as low as 18 K, which is the amount of loss in the James case.
