It is our belief that this is the first time since the Second World War that a government land use framework of this kind has been undertaken. We feel that its formulation is not before time.
The government is currently seeking responses to its Land Use Framework (LUF) consultation. The LUF will be England’s most extensive land management plan ever, encompassing the government’s plans for housing and renewable energy, as well as England’s biodiversity.
Government launches “national conversation” on land use
The Government has launched a consultation on a new approach to Land Use empowering decision makers with the toolkit to protect the most productive agricultural land and boost food security.

As we see it: the UK needs low-carbon, renewable energy if we are to avoid the worst effects of climate change by meeting the goal of Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. However, we feel that this must not come to the detriment of the UK’s food security or its biodiversity.
It is extremely unlikely that all the proposals presently on the table will be passed by the Secretary of State, or passed at the scale energy companies have proposed.
At Waveney Valley Labour, we are concerned about the present scale of proposals for photovoltaic solar farms in the constituency and its surrounding area. We are monitoring the situation. 🧵👇
Whether it’s security at our borders, or investment in our NHS, this Labour government is clearing up the mess the Tories left behind.

I replied: "It's a classic compromise. Nobody's fully happy!" Not even me. But as a pragmatist & a realist, I believe that some progress is better than none.

Have a good evening! 🙂 - WVCLP Admin
1/2 Sorry, I've been a bit belligerent on ROSCOs. Let's unpack that:

Nationalising the ROSCOs was investigated, but it was deemed prohibitively expensive, being on the order of tens of billions of £. As somebody on Threads said in the future new rolling stock must be bought direct...
