That's great to hear. I think it would be perfect for SD, but probably only if I converted to solar first for my electric.

I didn't look into it too deep for our duplex in Mass. So I don't know how much of an issue it was. Midwest is a big area. It sounded like extremes (say Iowa) would be an issue

I have a heat pump in the Midwest and it handles the inclement weather here very well. Maybe the BTU levels should be higher.

The weird part were the aggressive incentives in Mass. But when I spoke to people they all cautioned that you would still need a "backup" heating system for winter. SD made a lot more sense, but no incentives.

To be honest, after all the hoopla about Harvard, I was confident the Institute would do me proud. They were quiet but always a colitigator in the NIH funding lawsuit.

@johnsmillie42.bsky.social regarding heat pump technology, wouldn't coastal San Diego be optimal for that approach? Rarely a frost, not often over 80. But I have not seen them promoted. Am I missing something?
