Today I moved a motion to censure the Transport Minister over the MyWay+ debacle.

A damning report revealed systemic failures under his watch. The world-class ticketing system that Canberrans were promised quickly fell apart, leaving people frustrated and confused.

Powerful moments in the ACT Legislative Assembly as they get set to overturn the Catholic Church's disgraceful precedent in DP v Bird that was harming survivors of child sexual abuse.

Huge news from the ACT! Laws closing the loopholes exposed by Bird v DP have passed today. This means institutions can no longer hide behind technicalities to avoid responsibility for child abuse. Survivors deserve justice. Every state and territory must follow the ACT's lead.
Solidarity to the trans community in Queensland, here and around the world.

If you’re able to, please consider chipping in to Project 491, a fund which helps trans kids in Queensland receive care in light of this renewed ban. (4/4)

Make no mistake, this is an assault on both trans rights and the principle of universal healthcare.

I am proud that the ACT has a progressive and human rights centred approach to trans healthcare, but we must not rest on our laurels. (3/4)
The evidence is already very clear; puberty blockers are essential and often lifesaving medical care for trans kids.

But of course, this isn’t about the science or health outcomes; this is about scoring cheap points in a US-imported culture war. (2/4)
The decision by the Queensland Health Minister to reinstate a ban on puberty blockers for trans kids is a bloody disgrace.

To do so literally hours after the previous ban was overturned in court is particularly cruel and callous. 🧵(1/4)
The ANU must commit to putting staff wellbeing and students' education before money.

The federal government most commit to long term funding and oversight for the sector.
If it wasn't already, it's now crystal clear that Chancellor Julie Bishop's position is untenable.

But as I've said before, a change in leadership is not enough. The ANU and the university sector needs widescale cultural change.
But today's revelations are particularly stark.

Everyone deserves to feel safe at work, and the ANU has failed in its duty to provide this safety.

The university must now respect the cease work order for those affected and investigate how this was ever able to happen.

Solidarity with staff at the ANU's College of Arts of Social Sciences.

Staff and students have long been ringing the alarm bells on the Renew ANU program and every new revelation only reinforces their call for it to be stopped and scrapped.🧵

I joined ABC today to discuss the Albanese Government's decision to join the rest of the world in recognising Palestine.

Though without a commitment to sanctions and ending the two-way arms trade with Israel, the Albanese Government has failed to meet the moment.

Great to catch up with the Australian Institute of Architects about what good design and planning for the missing middle looks like.

A reminder the ACT missing middle public consultation closes soon. Have your say now 👉 yoursayconversations.act.gov.au/missing-midd...

“ANU isn’t just some university — it’s part of Canberra’s identity. People come here to study there, they stay to build their lives, and almost everyone in this city knows someone whose life has been shaped by it in some ways.”

Rift in the lute: Greens protest ANU music school changes and cuts | Canberra Daily
The ACT Greens have called on federal and ACT ministers to stop what they term “destructive” cuts at the Australian National University.
canberradaily.com.au
Enough is enough-I'm calling on the local Ministers for Education and Arts to step up and advocate to their federal colleagues for real action to stop the destruction happening at ANU, because our community is simply fed-up
There's not much
about this that screams 'arts capital of Australia' to me.
This is despite the fact that in 2021, the ACT Government announced that they wanted Canberra to become 'the arts capital of Australia'.
This week, we learned the university is gutting the School of Music, a decades-old institution that serves thousands of students and is a cornerstone of life at the university for many working in the arts sector.
For months now, students and staff have been calling out for Vice-Chancellor Genevieve Bell and the federal government to listen. Instead, they've been met with either staged photographs in the Canberra Times or radio silence.
It's become crystal clear that the problem at ANU isn't the staff, the students, or the departments — it's the university's leadership. They're slashing costs wherever they can, and it's quality of education that's paying the price.
Both the federal and territory government must take urgent action to protect the integrity of higher education, as the Australian National University needlessly plows head first into reckless cuts to degrees and courses.

Solidarity with the Palestinians of Gaza upon the latest egregious breaches of the ceasefire. Australia must end all weapons exports to Israel and actively support an end to the occupation and a free Palestine ✊🇵🇸
Spontaneous ceasefire protest has popped up in Canberra. Many passers by stopping to lend their support as they go about their day. @andrewbraddock.bsky.social @joclaygreens.bsky.social @lauranutallgreens.bsky.social
