They have lied from the beginning. It was always just an excuse. The public has a large interest in accountability and law and order. The masks just allow them to commit crimes with impunity.

Deporting a lot of people can be done in an ethical matter. Obama and Biden did it...

I wonder how many direct or indirect deaths ICE is responsible for now. Certainly dumping people anywhere they can is going to have some very bad ends. I'd say that number has to easily be into the thousands.
lerris.bsky.social
Everyone needs to dump that app. Badly.

We are the pro truth pro democracy party. We are the actual conservatives, because we are trying to conserve our democracy and our future...
lerris.bsky.social
That's sort of my thought. Democrats have struggled to keep things from getting bad for so long, that they don't notice how different their choices are. Also Rs lie a lot.

A lot seem to almost be waiting for Trump to fall to some health condition. I'm not too sure about that strategy.
lerris.bsky.social
To the position, we know Trump is old and unhealthy, and they are seriously overplaying their hand. Also, the phrase that the United States always does the right things after trying every other alternative comes to mind. I hope that is still true.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want anyone to lose health care, but if we are just buying time for full fascism, well, that's not a solution. They would just lose it a couple years later.
lerris.bsky.social
I don't know. I know if all the bad things we said would happen actually do happen, then odds are the republicans lose power and the country survives, since they caused all the bad things. Then again most of those bad things have already happened, and it is barely moving the needle.

It's probably a moot point now since they blew away the filibuster. Approving some might have been a way to keep it longer, maybe.
lerris.bsky.social
That wouldn't necessarily result fix anything is the problem. It might make it worse. Going to court, or bringing in any legal means to compel seems the way.
lerris.bsky.social
I agree they can't tolerate this, but it needs to be done carefully.

We need a project 2029, but more importantly we need to be able to hire about double the number of FBI agents then after the trump regime lackeys are fired. There is so much criminal activity that is going to have to be investigated and prosecuted.

Emma is talking about the UK but it seems the new fad is to call anyone that is not right wing enough a terrorist...

Mainstream media is owned by giant corporations and oligarchs who have chosen to prioritize their interests, and not making Mango Mussolini mad.

They are complicit. The moving on also happens.

If we find there is a department that still has funding, we might have a better idea with what all is wrong with Trump...

Seriously this is all bad, but we have coasted too long on grown ups running the country. Democracy doesn't work if the electorate is so easily scammed. We must do better.
lerris.bsky.social
You shouldn't. I'm not aware of any corporate media that didn't cave except NPR and PBS and they are hardly corporate. MSNBC has caved in various ways as well.

Ultimately when your ultimate boss has interests for a story to go a certain way, or not to go a certain way, the story goes as directed.

The lies are the existential problem of our time.

All problems can be solved, with men and women of good faith honestly trying to solve them, but the lies must end.

The part I nitpick against is the word conservative. Taking an ax to the federal government in a haphazard chaotic way with no understanding of consequences is not conservative. It isn't even sane. It qualifies as evil though.

Canada may want to be building their own wall... It is all very sad. While that was partially joking, you're right it is a serious concern, but Russia survived mostly. Still, a pandemic is the least of our concerns right now.

Mike Johnson is a good example of someone who knows he had no morals. It's why he pretends to be so religious, while at the same time aiding and abetting all the immorality and criminality of the Trump regime. Someone should remind him that false witness is a sin.

The republicans can simply end the filibuster and end it. My concern is them somehow managing to portray us as the bad guys if we change what we ask for, well that and getting nothing. Obviously such a portrayal would be insane, but insane is also called Tuesday. I do, however, understand.
lerris.bsky.social
True, that is the choice. You could solve this with tax revenue.

I'm fairly sure Trump doesn't have any extra powers because of the shutdown, but then the firings were occurring before the shutdown. Now they can try to blame it on democrats. It's not true of course. I'd bet they were in the queue looking for an excuse already.
