-“as in the kind of Fucked Shit Luke would have been horrified about if he found out”.
…to demand change. Hence the accelerationism.

Incidentally, it’s becoming a red-flag for me if an online far-leftist really really likes Andor, but only for the “banality of evil under fascism” parts, but completely ignores the whole “so the Rebellion did some Fucked Shit to get to where they are”
Which is why terminally online leftists are so fixated on apathy/average-citizens-not-being-radicalized-enough: from the slightly more legitimate concern of people not caring about Issues until it personally affects them, to being pissed that other people aren’t as angry/traumatized as they are…
So something that was pointed out to me, in an Andor video essay, that when people get radicalized, it’s not because they Awakened to some higher-minded ideals. It’s usually because the person was personally attacked/affected by the opposing party. Aka they got radicalized to settle a score.
…eh, for now I wouldn’t make any assumptions that this ride’s existence is a smoking gun of Disney bending the knee.

Now if there’s an NYC section that Suspiciously lingers a lot time on Trump Tower? Sure, lol
(This is without getting into how you kind of need a strong central government to implement and enforce universal healthcare, infrastructure for trade of goods and services kinda need top-down management structure, the scale issue behind a theoretical community of 100 people, etc)
It’s why I think is we have a strain of online leftists who are embracing accelerationism and anarcho-nihilism: if the American people won’t vote in a far-left/progressive president, they’ll just force it by collapsing the federal government so no one can stop them make their anarchist communes.
Oh, I’ve idly wondered for a while if these people have been abusing the Paradox of Tolerance and using that as an excuse to just be assholes to people.
Still watching it and now it…froze for the replay.

Guess tonight there’s technical issues?
I’m starting to wonder if people took the wrong lessons away from BLM 2020.

The whole “there are no Good Cops, they keep getting marginalized and kicked out, therefore it’s a waste of time to reform the police from within”, mutated into “it’s a waste of time to do good within All Institutions.”
Woah, wonder what changed? Not just compared to Fuuto PI, but with Samurai Flamenco years and years ago not getting a dub either!
Well as I put it elsewhere, the answer is…theme parks.

The actual answer is: theme parks.

No, really: despite even Legacy underperforming in theaters, especially domestically (with the caveat it did much better in foreign markets), it actually did well in theme parks. The ElecTRONica night event at California Adventure outlasting the movie’s tenure.
Also, very fascinating you took time out of your day to quote a post I made nearly two weeks ago. You bored?

I love how me pointing out online American far-leftists who oppression Olympics Gaza over ICE raids somehow implicates me as being a fascist or a liberal, lol.

Also socialists I dunno about socialists being that clear-headed. See: being all for USAID getting dismantled. jacobin.com/2025/01/us-f...
...so anyways, I just saw One Battle After Another, which is pointedly a critique against performative far-left "revolutionary" politics. Which has pissed off large sections of the online far-left, guys like the one in the screenshot who thinks inflatable costumes aren't """revolutionary""" enough.
Ok, finally saw One Battle After Another...yeah I can see why the American far-right and far-left are both pissed off at this movie simultaneously, lol.

Still, if it's provoking that kind of reaction, I'd say it's own political theme is a huge success. Worth checking out for that.
Well no, since Universal’s able to justify keeping the Waterworld show open without a sequel, lol.

(And as a reminder of just how successful the show is, this year is its 20th Anniversary!)
No, it deadass is because of the theme parks.

Pretty much. Especially since the theme parks’ revenue is waaaay more stable than movie theater revenue (doubly so in the post-lockdown environment).

Which isn’t new for Disney: see Cars as a franchise persisting due to merch sales, in spite of being considered Pixar’s weakest franchise.
Then the Lightcycle Coaster in Shanghai Disneyland, then Magic Kingdom at WDW, was also a huge success.

It’s one of those properties where the setting is more interesting than the story and characters. The kind of setting that’s perfect for theme parks but not movies. Kind of like Avatar as well.

I didn’t know I was whining about anything in the first place, LMAO
Okay then what are you whining about?
No it wasn’t.

Economy was the main reason why Harris lost, not Gaza. In fact all signs point to it being a pretty low priority among American voters.
