It’s why I think is we have a strain of online leftists who are embracing accelerationism and anarcho-nihilism: if the American people won’t vote in a far-left/progressive president, they’ll just force it by collapsing the federal government so no one can stop them make their anarchist communes.

I’m starting to wonder if people took the wrong lessons away from BLM 2020.

The whole “there are no Good Cops, they keep getting marginalized and kicked out, therefore it’s a waste of time to reform the police from within”, mutated into “it’s a waste of time to do good within All Institutions.”

The actual answer is: theme parks.

No, really: despite even Legacy underperforming in theaters, especially domestically (with the caveat it did much better in foreign markets), it actually did well in theme parks. The ElecTRONica night event at California Adventure outlasting the movie’s tenure.

...so anyways, I just saw One Battle After Another, which is pointedly a critique against performative far-left "revolutionary" politics. Which has pissed off large sections of the online far-left, guys like the one in the screenshot who thinks inflatable costumes aren't """revolutionary""" enough.

Ok, finally saw One Battle After Another...yeah I can see why the American far-right and far-left are both pissed off at this movie simultaneously, lol.

Still, if it's provoking that kind of reaction, I'd say it's own political theme is a huge success. Worth checking out for that.

Pretty much. Especially since the theme parks’ revenue is waaaay more stable than movie theater revenue (doubly so in the post-lockdown environment).

Which isn’t new for Disney: see Cars as a franchise persisting due to merch sales, in spite of being considered Pixar’s weakest franchise.

Then the Lightcycle Coaster in Shanghai Disneyland, then Magic Kingdom at WDW, was also a huge success.

It’s one of those properties where the setting is more interesting than the story and characters. The kind of setting that’s perfect for theme parks but not movies. Kind of like Avatar as well.

Although not every federal case that doesn't go Trump's way goes up to SCOTUS: for instance, the whole thing on him targeting law firms I don't think has gone up to them, and since then Trump's stopped trying to go after other firms.

That's because they're leaning in a lot on EOs and federal funding cuts to push their agendas. Stuff that would get challenged in federal courts, but we have the catch of a hostile GOP majority SCOTUS willing to go "nah, it doesn't count when Trump does it".

The base idea I found intriguing, but as more details started to come out, my personal skepticism started to ramp up: it being locked to a 3-day and 2-night stay, the packed and rigorous itinerary, and the hours-long “excursion” to GE…and how you’re *only* supposed to go to GE.
