John Lasseter stole the idea and credit for Cars from Jørgen Klubien, an animator who was friends with Lasseter at CalArts and later Pixar, and booted Jørgen to script-writing before removing him from the film altogether.

It kind of feels like Power Rangers was a precursor. Like they were excited about getting the property and produced some solid seasons before purposely trying to kill it when they didn't want to rely on/share with Toei. Then eventually just selling it back to Saban after they snagged Marvel.

To be entirely fair! They didnt want power rangers, they wanted the studio that owned power rangers Att, disney was gonna shelve it and run reruns until the production team convinced them "we can go to new Zealand for cheaper!"
