Book Rec thread. I wanna post some of my 5 stars on here too so I really like remember them. First up Where Wolves Don't Die by Anton Treuer. A native kid gets in a fight with a kid at school and the next day the other kid's house catches fire.
His dad sends him to the Rez to stay with grandparents.
Oop it was over 20 cds requested, not 15. Sorry @aadl.org I will lay off on the physical holds for a while. (I deleted Spotify without a plan in place for music replacement)
Whoa first time in a while ive had a month with no sick time, vacations or holidays. Although did have some October migraines they just happened to fall on weekends this month...
Oh thank fuck.
GOOD NEWS! For the first time ever, Huntington's disease has been successfully treated. A groundbreaking new miRNA treatment, AMT-130, slowed the progression of the disease by 75%. These results are likely to support the first approval of a genetic treatment for the rare neurodegenerative condition.
Okay seems like either 7digital or qobuz are the big non amazon/apple options. Seems like 7digital might be slightly cheaper but their UI and search are worse.
Also where do people buy digital music thats not on bandcamp? I heard iTunes is shit now.
I will start buying stuff going forward, but ten years is a lot of albums to buy and these are mostly backlogs of big names like Taylor(i did enjoy her panini albums), Beyonce etc.
Me: oh no I deleted Spotify and I havent downloaded new music in almost a decade.
Me: oh no our library hasnt purchased much popular music in the past 5 years.
Me: thank you public library for existing
Them (probably): 15 CD requests from the same person??? Lol okay...

I am living for the sumo wrestlers having fun playing tourists while preparing for the sumo tournament in London
Yes I need people being happy goofball. Between this and the competitive sumo wrestlers taking tourist pics in London, i am cheered a little. Also I am clearly following the correct people if both ended up reposted on my timeline.
I love whatever is wrong with them 🙂‍↕️
Yep my roommate discovered maple sugar is its own thing in a baking class. He was very excited and ordered some online lol.
Yep they def needed more help than I was comfy with, but we found a few potential items. I think the research is just kind of coming out on the topic though and language isnt super consistent so playing with different search terms might be the best bet :/
I really need to clean out my inbox this week, but what a boring task? But im starting to lose things so I must...
Consultation 1 went well! Consultation 2 is a bit above my level of expertise, but the subject liaison isnt available soon, so I will try my best. Once I broke down their search strategies they actually aren't that bad, but seeing 6 lines of text in the word doc was a little intimidating. Oh PubMed.
Ugh I keep forgetting I've gotten more sensitive to dairy and forgot my lactaid TWICE today. My stomach, it weeps. And people being loud next door so I cannot sleep :(
Multiple times. My momma loved it...mostly for the dresses and Clark Gable. I also read the book in high school. Then in college a prof had us watch Watermelon Woman and I was exposed to other criticism of it on the internet. Tumblr maybe?
Did they not explain it to them like this season of project runway didnt explain western fashion to the Chinese designer so he had no idea wtf he was doing?
Huh thats a good idea. I could record whats in the drawers so I dont forget my veggies and let them rot like usual.
Welp cleaned out the spice cupboard. Threw away anything pre-2023. Was gonna do 2024, but uh a lot of our spiced were bought during the pandemic so over half say best by 2023 lol. I will slowly replace those ones over time as I see what we use now that we are cooking more.
*Raw salmon lol. Yeah I more have issues with chewy things like the squid, that take a long time to get down. Like tough steak or pork too is an issue.
So many of my friends hate the texture of tomatoes. They don't mind tomato sauce, but cannot chew them. Im generally alright with textures, but I recently started having a texture issue with Rae salmon so sushi has been hit or miss. I also never cared for the textucalamari. squid/fried calimari.
Finally took the old hanging clothes player out from below our kitchen cupboards. Its from 1997. I kinda want to see if it still works before pitching it but I dont own a CD to try it. Guess I could loan one out from the library lol.

Aww seller is so sweet.
She's giving a little discount due to a blemish she didn't notice until she was packing the order. She offered to cancel, but I'm planning to keep it on the counter by a wall so I can just have that face away.
Did post a 12 pack of full sugar mountain dew on a free fb group to get it out of my house. I will 100% give in to temptation if I hold onto it.
