EDUCATION REQUiREMENTS
Many library jobs DO NOT require a library science degree, but librarian positions typically do
If you want a librarian job in the
U.S. or Canada, you will need a master's degree from an American Library Association-accredited program
A full list of ALA-accredited master's programs can be found here: ala.org/educationcareers/accreditedprograms/directory

Here are some of the national organizations available for GLAM professionals. There are also many regional and local professional organizations, so be sure to look up groups in your area!

Republicans control the Presidency and hold majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. They own their inability and unwillingness to govern.
Screenshot of the official website of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) at the URL [www.usda.gov](http://www.usda.gov). The top of the page includes standard elements of a U.S. government website: an American flag icon and the label “An official website of the United States government,” with a link next to it that reads “Here’s how you know.” The USDA logo appears prominently, along with the site’s main navigation menu that includes tabs labeled: Home, Food, Farming and Ranching, Forestry, Sustainability, Trade and Markets, About, and a Search icon. To the far right, there are links for News, Blog, and Employee Resources.

Below the navigation menu is a large reddish-brown notice box with a white exclamation mark icon inside a circle, followed by the text:

“Due to the Radical Left Democrat shutdown, this government website will not be updated during the funding lapse. President Trump has made it clear he wants to keep the government open and support those who feed, fuel, and clothe the American people.”

TIL my library has a combo VCR/Blu-Ray player. I know these technologies existed simultaneously for like a decade, but it never occurred to me that companies smashed them together

Baker & Taylor appears to be shutting down. A post on the r/libraries subreddit from an employee of B&T breaks the news and there appear to be other employees in the comments confirming the situation.

When they *had* someone filling FOIA requests, they did everything they could to slow/stop requests being filled. I haven't seen coverage of this vacancy, but they are clearly trying to hide shady dealings from public scrutiny

Fun fact: my first library job was in John C. Pace Library's government documents department, which cemented my passion for public service in higher education & access to public information

American Library Association poster text reads:
Library Work:
The Profession on Which All Other Professions and Occupations Depend;
The library serves:
teacher, minister, doctor, lawyer, engineer, merchant, artisan, social worker, student, home-maker;
It offers:
culture, information, recreation;
Library work puts the librarian in touch with every human interest.
