Biden wanted Israel to have free rein after the events of 10/7. USA policy has always leaned that way. Blinken's options were to follow that policy, or resign (the morally correct choice.)

I agree the USA could have used their power to mitigate Bibi's revenge, but that wasn't a Blinken call.
