With funding from LPT, Prof Anindita Roy has uncovered how a protein called CD133 helps infant leukaemia cells grow and resist treatment.
The discovery forms the basis of new treatments designed to destroy cancer cells while leaving healthy ones unharmed.

Manchester United fan Frank Ilett has come up with a novel way of supporting us!
He has pledged to not cut his hair until his team wins 5 games in a row.
It has not been almost a year since he made the pledge and, judging by their current form, he might not be cutting his hair for a good while yet!
We're proud to announce the funding of 2 new research projects aiming to improve treatment and care for young patients with brain tumours.
Led by Drs Timothy Ritzmann and Laura Donovan, the new projects will investigate ependymoma and medulloblastoma.

💇🏻 A New Home for Head Coach Aaron's Hair 👸

Introducing, buzzcut Aaron!

Whilst away at Scout camp, Head Coach Aaron let his Scout Group loose with a pair of scissors and a shaver to shave his hair off in aid of @littleprincesses.bsky.social.

Check out Aaron's fresh trim when you're next in 😎.

Thrilled to have contributed to ground-breaking research led by Dr Joan Boyes (@universityofleeds.bsky.social‬), just out in Nature (‪@nature.com‬)! 🧬 We show that tiny DNA fragments, naturally cut from the genome, can linger—causing more damage & helping leukaemia progress.
Thanks ever so much for the support, John! Fifteen inches is an amazing length of hair. THANK YOU! 💜
Alistair McGowan has become the latest person to support LPT in our 20th year.
Hereford's Castle House hotel was the venue for a fantastic afternoon of observations and impressions while Mr McGowan also performed many of the poems from his book, Not What We Were Expecting.
As a paediatric nurse, Abby Criddle has always been passionate about LPT.
“Caring for children affected by cancer and other serious conditions has shown me firsthand how much strength they possess,” she said.
As well as donating her lovely long locks, Abby raised an incredible £1,050 for LPT.
Alistair McGowan, the comedian and writer, will be performing a selection of his poems at the Castle House in Hereford from 3pm to 5pm on June 24 to support our work.
Tickets, including afternoon tea and a signed copy of his book, can be bought by calling 01432 356321.
Thanks ever so much Michal - we really appreciate your efforts for us and the children we support. 💜
Thanks ever so much Emma! That must be a lot of hair sent our way. Thank you! 💜
Huge thanks to Emma for the brilliant - and continued - support over so many years! 💜
Fifth (and probably the last) time I’ve done this now, chopped off hair and put it in the post to @littleprincesses.bsky.social.
It's been wonderful to meet so many people at @hayfestival.bsky.social who've supported our Hair and Hope mission.
Maven, pictured with his sisters Cataleya and Kadii, cut off 22 inches of his gorgeous locks this month and was delighted to see how his hair will be used in our wigs.
Thanks so much Sam for the fab support. You'll certainly be fresh in this warm weather! We really appreciate the fundraising so a huge thanks, too, to everyone who donated. It will be a big help for us and the children we support with our free wigs. 💜💜💜

It has been great being at Barber Connect and speaking to some brilliant people from the hair industry.
Wahl, our corporate supporters, are the event’s headline sponsors and kindly invited our Phil and Wendy along to the two-day event at the NEC in Birmingham.
Stockport County fans dug deep to raise more than £700 for LPT after making us the beneficiary of a bucket collection.
Tim Lowe, our Trustee, and his family members manned the buckets before the match against Leyton Orient.
William, Tim’s grandson, is pictured with Stockport boss Dave Challinor.
We're delighted to be attending one of the biggest annual events for the childhood research community.

SIOP Europe is taking place this week in Budapest and aims to help increase the cure rate and the quality of care for children with cancer.
