October has been such a marathon of a haul to get through, with so many moving parts. Glad we had a weekend together like normal human beings for the first time in a while.

Had a family member's 105th birthday not been canceled this weekend, we would've had no time off, really.

Sure, it’s easy to get porn online, but supporting physical media and the small businesses that sell it is a good practice and that includes for adult… especially since things are heading in a direction that might make it harder to get adult material online.

Progressive people shouldn't simply think of tech as a thing that's victimizing and enslaving, even though it absolutely is. I think we're being called to remember our purpose in what tech was supposed to achieve, and the roots of the first movie. There's indeed a through line from the first movie.

There will always be outsider lineage back to even older than Boomer programmers like Dumont in the original TRON, & in the new movie, ENCOM's hacking team. Hackers were supposed to be fucking outsiders & trans & PoC and fat and other types of marginalized. I do think this movie calls back to that

I think the TRON:Ares movie is making a strong point that progressive people need to move past our trauma around technology if we're going to find a way out. The way out is through, and it's not via blind acceptance of AI, nor via CEO worship. But it's going to have to confront the actual tech.

Forreal tho, SF is everything bad about New York in California except the rich people who buy things for the sake of acting like rich people are usually nouveau riche techbros plus it tries to be irritatingly pseudo-European. But also at least public transit mostly works there.

Not entirely true; LA is the cuck of cities, we know we suck and have shitty public transit and segregate our poor people in a new-fashioned way by requiring cars, and are on fire a lot, but I also still love us no matter what.

Yeah, the pacing of Legacy and Ares are both absolutely better IMO.
