I also think the full reason for anti-Jewish hate is all of the abovementioned PLUS we usually would be otherwise Eurocentrically considered physically ugly without surgery, so basically physical looks disprivilege (e.g. everyone internalized the Nazi eugenics 💩) PLUS perception of being rich

Many mics here have a policy of really asking you to stay for the whole thing (I just think it's good etiquette if not a mic after 930 on a weeknight), but at minimum I try to stay for a few comics after me.

But yes, the etiquette of being good audience is rarely taught.

You have a point with that that I never thought about. TBH most of the "incel" comics are just Gen Z men who yeah, don't know how to be a supportive audience. Been lucky enough to have a roster of largely supportive mics, but occasionally I end up at a weird one and forget that people are like this.

Honestly, I'm just going to say it, the most seething, alive, overt racist commentary I've witnessed in public, and I don't mean just anti-white Jewish bigotry, has come from Black and brown cis men at comedy open mics.

And that's the thing, I also think that Black & brown people just hate Jews and see them as white because of the money thing. That wasn't the world I grew up in, but I think it's the one now.

And billionaires. Buuut isn't there a way bigger percentage of white Christian billionaires in the world? Like I'm pretty sure Jewish billionaires are not the majority.

Anti-Jewish bigotry is really weird--it's the only bigotry I've seen that otherwise liberal-minded people feel they can justify.

That's not to say that there aren't adverse rooms with the GP. But the heckles from incel spaces have been far, far, far worse.

Personally not treating a GP audience like an incel comic would helps. I don't do uncomfortable crowd work and try to keep focus on actually writing shit that punches

This is one of my most unexpected takeaways TBH. Like how is a gen public crowd typically an easier version of a crowd? And performing for other comedians is sometimes a nuclear disaster?

In my almost 4 years of performing standup, I don't understand why some open mics are incel support groups, some are actual good gauges of how decent human beings might react to a joke and will help your jokes improve, and many gen public booked shows have way better audience than a mic ever will.
