the only thing I learned by the time I got to grad school was to start earlier in the day, but probably 95% of my papers throughout under grad and in grad, I ruthlessly researched for weeks and then wrote the day before it was due.

the only all-nighter I ever pulled, my dad came back from his girlfriend's house at 5am only to find me at the dining room hunched over the laptop having written a 20-page essay on The Wizard of Oz for my film class between 8pm the night before and then (A on the paper and the class, natch)

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
