The problem with social media is that it's just snippets of a broader thesis. My overall thesis is: I dont know what's going on! There are many indicators pointing to recession (eg, job growth) and some pointing to "fine" (eg, most other indicators).

Well, two things. First, manufacturing is only about 10% of GDP. (But it's seen as a pseudo leading indicator.) Second, see chart below. The while line is the focus. It's been running negative for a while now.

Torsten out today with alternative job market trackers. (Check Apollo's page for the pdf.) This was a good one. Despite the big layoff announcements in the news recently, layoffs havent really spiked recently (versus the last couple years).

There are no major drugs coming from Venezuela. No fentanyl anyway. Maybe it's like 3rd in terms of cocaine supply. Meanwhile, Venezuela has more oil reserves in the ground than Saudi Arabia. (It's true.) Maduro has screwed up the development of it tho. And China is moving in... So...
