If we can avoid using the term AI for legitimate research purposes, the con gets more difficult for dorks like Altman.

The reason I wouldn’t call it AI is that by doing so, all of the grifters get to say something like “See there is a legit use for AI”. So it sort of (to me) lets the conmen piggyback their crap on to your good use.

I hate calling this sort of thing AI. I think its a legit purpose and I know s fair few biologists who do similar work. From what I understand of their work I would describe what they do as image processing. Or something similar. And I get why they do it.

When a couple of books you had on hold at the library become available within a couple of days of each other. one taps in to your permanant low grade pessimism and the other hits your constant optimism.
