I'm glad for it. I think, without a clear visual indicator of how unprepared I was for it, I'd have made burnout-level attempts at fighting the superboss when I first encountered it.

Also, the rusty robot boss on the ocean floor would have been hell to plan around without health bars.

Oh yeah no I love when a little side room turns into a whole puzzle like, "You can reach this powerup, if you use your existing upgrades, in a way we wouldn't normally ask you to use it for regular progress."
