For the first 130 pgs, I wondered "Why parthenogenesis?" Why clone females? Unless it's replacement parts for the rich. It lacks genetic diversity & causes societal problems. Then all was revealed & the story took off!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐5/5
A multiverse novel that really grabbed me right from the start, but the second book spent a bit too much time filling in the reader on what transpired in the first book (so 4 stars for that one). This is my favorite kind of science fiction!

#Boarding an #outdoorcat? Our #cat is used to going outdoors for exercise, entertainment, & the facilities. We need to board him for 4 days. Would love insights! He was a stray who adopted us & while he's inside at night, some of the day & mealtime we don't know how he'll react to a kennel.

Question for humans who have #indooroutdoorcats: #GaryTheCat is in & out all morning (then naps all afternoon). I work from home so not a big deal. We're going away for long weekend. Cat sitter will stay, but she has FT job. Does she leave him out to cry at door or in to cry on other side of door?

I've read all of Jodi Taylor's Chronicles of St Marys & Time Police series, but I only occassionally read thrillers. I was instantly enamored. Immensely readable!

My fav SF book is The Martian & even though the entire plot hinges on something that could never happen (the windstorm that injures Watney & makes his team think he's dead) I still loved every second of the book. Sciencing the shit out of every obstacle! Movie was good but too many changes from bk.

As long as the historical inaccuracy is only about people - when events don't fall in line with facts, it irks me.

I do an incredible amount of research for my work - though mine tends to be scientific research rather than historical. I READ historical fiction. I WRITE speculative fiction.
