Well with the EU rolling out their bill, the US drafting theirs and Australia jumping on the bandwagon, there's too many restrictions coming from all sides. The slow slide to fascism just ramped up. A surprising ally has been Apple who are trying to battle about privacy concerns against the OSB

There are rumblings about VPN reviews in six months time, and with VPN use skyrocketing by 1800% since Monday, it looks like Internet Providers could be force to block access to popular VPN sites. Websites they request ID verification will also be forced to block VPN access

Safety, privacy, security, free expression and education. That last one is going to become a biiiiig issue if Wikipedia is denied an exemption, as they simply can't afford to implement ID verification. We could be locked off from the largest repository of human knowledge in history thanks to the OSA

On top of that, some of these companies say that they're British and are established here, but are actually registered to the Seychelles and Cyprus, which would put them outside of protections for UK GDPR. In my opinion it breaches the human rights act which has articles that include a right to

They've already done it. You have to use your government ID or take a selfie that will scan your face to guesstimate your age with AI. The issue is, they're run by third party companies, some of which have close ties to the government after being handed a massive amount of cash to develop AI tools

I am longing for them to make a comment. They'd capture even more of the young vote if they stood against this ridiculous act, and in principle they should because they are the ones who are going to be censored more often as anything remotely progressive is increasingly seen as "wrong"

You can, but a phone call is better and much harder to ignore. If it helps, writing a script before calling allows you to navigate the call. Trust me, I LOATHE calling anyone, but I made an exception for this because I will not be partisan to the rise of fascism and censorship

Call Ofcom too and note that it's in direct breach of the Human Rights Act, especially when it comes to free expression, privacy and the right to security. Spred the number, encourage people to call 0300 123 3333
