Design wise, probably the more recent one. I see it as a newer iteration of this one, influenced by how my way of drawing Sir Simon's changed over the past year.
As far as circumstances are concerned, this one is probably more "canon" than the other one.

As a squire, Sir Simon wanted to be a good and noble knight to such a degree he was kind of a stick in the mud. But then after his knighthood initiation ritual awakened feelings that he'd long denied, he began to explore these aspects of himself and mellow out, much to the relief of his comrades

Intending to turn Sir Simon into a bear, Cyril's attempts to repress his growing love for the knight alters his magic's effect, turning him into a different kind of bear instead... And also the warlock's future husband?

Transformation sequence of a muscular knight in his late 30s, early 40s being magically transformed into a fatter, hairier and about 25ish years older version of himself, with his memories altered to fill those years with a married life with the warlock that transformed him to begin with. He laughs about how he thought he could fit into his 'old' clothes still. The warlock watches in shock, alarmed at the unintended consequences of his curse and that the knight sees him now as his husband of many years 🪄✨
