You can't beat a good parlour - especially with a bay window!

All you need to do is point me in the right direction, Mon 😉 A monk at Pell Wall Hall - amazing; I didn't know that! Just for you, here's Blam Blam Blam doing the Dr Who theme:

A triumphant return to the jewel of the Severn (although I am slightly disappointed that man in the background on the right of the thumbnail was not a special guest)! 👏👏👏

What is Tom Baker's link to Shropshire?
marcpetty.bsky.social
Who were they then, Mon?

Ironically, the song began life as 'Theme from Labour of Love' (the short film that accompanied the album)! It later acquired lyrics and came out with the excellent Baggariddim album in '85 (which featured various artists toasting over songs from LoL and the criminally underrated Geffery Morgan).

💥 BANGER ALERT 💥 Might do a thread about my favourite #UB40 songs soon...

It must be the Gallic influence at work? 😉

Brook could prove to be the best signing of the Appleton reign so far. Very, very impressed with him: positioning, awareness and kicking have all been excellent so far.

Ha-ha! 😆 Yes, the Clee Hill area is a topic all of its own and has had whole books and studies devoted to it - as I'm sure the 'Mon will attest! I suspect, before the era of mass transport, there must've been micro-accents everywhere!

Does have a bit of novelty value, though, and - by the time it comes around - we will have had an unbeaten October and be flying up League Two! 💪😉

Spot-on. I think Whitchurch and Drayton have a distinct Cheshire/Potteries inflection, while the closer you get to the border the more Cymraeg it becomes! I've also heard people who can remember say that, pre-Telford, you could easily tell the difference between, say, Wellington and Dawley, too.

Yeah, Cambridge barely got a moment's peace at the back, and Kabia's deep-lying runs from full back caused chaos time and again. Let's hope they can all stay fit! 🤞

To paraphrase David St. Hubbins, even I'm jealous of me! 👞

Ahoy, Fab Four fans! Have you caught 'The Beatles: Month by Month' over on the 'Tube yet? I've loved their music all my life but, being born after the fact, I've never seen anything that's come closer to capturing the essence of Beatlemania - and the archive footage is AMAZING! ✅

Absolutely! Hope he gets a good run in the team now because I have a feeling we are going to hand out a pasting to some team in the not-too-distant future 🔮 And how good was Boyle on Saturday? His stats were off the charts!

Astley says "hold my beer!" Green grit salt bin, village notice board and red telephone box combo! 💥😯

A rare green grit salt bin, village noticeboard and red telephone box form a sensational power trio on a sunny day in the village of Astley, Shropshire.

The power of three: grit salt bin ✅ railway bridge ✅ closed station building ✅ Really, I ask you, does it get any better than this?

A weathered yellow grit bin perched on a railway over bridge above the mainline between Shrewsbury and Crewe, with the former Hadnall station building (closed 1960) peeping over the parapet.

Thrillingly, this grit bin does not appear on Shropshire Council's definitive map. As you can imagine, its discovery generated great excitement!

Have Ruffels and Bez from the Happy Mondays ever been seen in the same room? #AskingForAFriend
marcpetty.bsky.social
Yes, I saw you were in Tenby, Nigel! Definitely - they set the bar today, both with and without the ball (back three were excellent). Are you back for Crawley?
marcpetty.bsky.social
That's better ☺️ It's been coming for a while, but the boys finally got the three points our performances have deserved over recent home games. Pressed the opposition well in the first half, and managed them adeptly in the second. Lloyd, Kabia and the rejuvenated Hoole were all excellent ✅

#Salop 💙🧡
Jubilant scenes greet the final whistle at the Croud Meadow as Shrewsbury Town records its first home win of the 2025/26 season (a 2-0 triumph against Cambridge Utd).

The boy Whisper 😻

#CatsOfBluesky #Caturday 🐈‍⬛
Whisper is a 4-year old male, black and white domestic shorthair cat, who was rehomed via the RSPB's Gonsal Farm animal centre, which is located a few miles south of Shrewsbury. If you're looking to give a cat a home, it is a fantastic place to start a search!
