BIRTHDAY LIFER!! I turn 50 in a few hours, and gifted myself this first-ever sighting of a lapland longspur. A few winter plumage birds were mixed with a pack of migrating horned larks, all salvaging among the stony shoreline of Lake Winnipeg. #birds #LiferPie

A lapland longspur – a small, brown sparrow-like bird, hunts for food among multi-coloured stones and shells on the shore of an unseen lake. The bird blends in very well!

I really can't blame the camera. When I saw the bird, I had to grab the camera from a cabinet in the next room, remove the lens cap & get up to the window without scaring it away 🤣 It was a long shot.
