It's time for Starmer to abandon the race to keep up with the economy-sapping immigration policies of the man who brought us Brexit in the first place. Until he takes that step, the “severe and long-lasting” impact of leaving the EU, identified by Reeves today, will only keep getting worse.
Keir Starmer's 'Brexit Is Bad, Let's Make It a Bit Worse' Strategy
The Chancellor just admitted that Brexit has been an economic disaster. It's time the Government stopped making it even worse by imitating Nigel Farage's damaging anti-migration agenda, argues Adam Bi...

In other news, a different study found that bears do in fact defecate in the woods and the Pope is actually Catholic.

When people frequently rely on a "media" outlet which consistently churns out misinformation the outcome is people are going to buy into that.

Research also finds majority of people are against letting politicians front current affairs programmes

They presumably think they’ve managed to hang one of their colleagues out to dry without incriminating themselves.

But there’s time yet.

The best way to defeat Reform is for millions of people to hear a version of this message:

"Farage's Brexit made you poorer. Don't let him do it again"

I simply cannot understand Labour’s stance.

PR has been resoundingly approved by its members at Conference and has been previously endorsed by Nigel Farage.

So they have an argument for doing it and an argument against Farage complaining.

Surely it’s an open goal?

Yep. Someone is making an awful lot of money out of poorly pets!

It’s like watching someone who’s been on a basic first aid course at work argue with a cardiac surgeon about how to deal with a heart attack!
markeye.bsky.social
Just when you think their comms couldn’t get any worse….!

It’s like they’re sitting there thinking: “What can we utterly screw up today?”

Stupid beyond belief. A devastatingly awful cock up.

And yet, Facebook, and especially local newspaper comments sections, are rammed with their supporters defending and promoting them.

I don’t know what planet these people are on, but it’s not the same one as me.

If you are watching the Reform Party controlled Councils with their endless mishaps, resignations, fallouts, scandals, mismanagement and sheer comedic idiocy, but still thinking of making these clowns a national government, representing the UK on the global stage, you are literally insane.

This is one of THE great songs of all time!

It’s becoming increasingly obvious they haven’t got a workable plan.

Like their predecessors and their rivals, the lack of a proper plan means just ramping up the rhetoric.

And when there’s a bit of a backlash, making speeches of appeasement that last about a day before the next awful scheme.

Elitist entitlement writ large.

From keeping a chauffeur-driven Mercedes waiting for four hours, to now complaining about their speeding fines. This sounds more like antics from a private member's club, rather than part of our parliament. buff.ly/niNnvUb
Peer faces Lords ban for raising speeding fines with police chief
Ex-Lords speaker Baroness D'Souza complained to Sir Mark Rowley she could lose her licence after a speeding fine.

When the words turn into meaningful and substantial action, then I’ll listen.

Fiddling around with trade deals doesn’t really cut the mustard for me.

“…but we’re just going to have to live with that…” is the position she’s really admitting.

An acknowledged and huge economic problem and a massive parliamentary majority, but they’re not brave enough to tackle it head on?!

Let’s have a team that is then.

That £900k house in Frinton. Has anyone mentioned how it was paid for yet? Any laws broken, or all above board?

Anyone investigating? Media grown a conscience? Any journalist working for the British people? Anyone?

Half way through another week of silence then.

The problem here is a shoddily-written statement/press release that doesn’t really say that.

www.gov.uk/government/n...

Instead of being helpful, by explaining which roles it might refer to, it majors on the ‘we’re getting tough on immigration and making it more difficult for migrants’ message.
Migrants will be required to pass A Level standard of English
Migrants will be required to pass tough new English language requirements under a law introduced in Parliament today.

Polanski is making much more sense than Corbyn and Sultana, who give every impression of trying to establish two separate parties.

I really can’t see he’s left any substantial space for them to occupy.

This is absolutely nuts. As well as racist, xenophobic, deeply offensive and entirely ineffective.

Credited by whom?

McSweeney didn’t win Labour the last election, the Tories did.

And with every day that passes McSweeney’s malign influence seems to be driving more nails into the coffin of the Labour Party.

This latest ‘A’ level development is utter madness.

If they apply this, then we’ll get no construction workers, care workers, agricultural workers, hospitality workers - all jobs that we desperately need people to do.

It’s something so daft I can’t imagine even the last government doing.

Madness
markeye.bsky.social
FFS. It’s getting silly now.

If they applied it to Reform voters they wouldn’t stand a hope in hell of winning a single seat.

It’s just ludicrous. Labour lost me months ago - and with every day that passes I am firmer in my belief that they not a party I can possibly support.

Firstly she wouldn’t have been as weak as Cameron at dealing with her Eurosceptics.

And secondly she wouldn’t have left the EU.

Two things will likely happen:

Protest will go underground and thus be more difficult to trace to source.

Frustrated protesters will get more disruptive - and potentially more destructive - through imposed restrictions.

I can’t see either of the things being intended consequences of a crackdown.
