Sometimes, if you have an older dog, you'll be halfway through morning walk on a warm fall day and they will decide they want to flop down on a random bit of sidewalk or grass and bliss out for awhile.

If you possibly can, you should sit down on the grass and pet them for awhile.

Bogart lying on the grass in dappled sunlight watching and smelling the world go by.

Do not do the oil thing unless you're about to shower, to be clear, but it means you don't have to scrub your already sore skin.

Oil and THEN soap and water is good for remnants, when you get home.
And do your laundry on cold and don't use the dryer, lest you gas our your household.

Also: if you know you're headed for gas/pepper, wash with a pure soap and use no product. The goal is to minimize the skin oil available for the chemicals to stick to. It helps.

Use only water or fresh air on tear gas or pepper spray.

No milk, vinegar, antacids, urine, etc. and especially not in eye.

TBH, NOTHING needs to go IN the eye, and you can hurt someone a lot getting their eyes open. The eye cleans itself pretty fast. Focus on getting the lashes, eyelids, and brows clear so that crap isn't moving back onto the eye.

Because we all need all the laughs we can get, when I say the hockey sticks were fucked-off locals? I genuinely saw a guy wearing a Nordiques jersey and with his hockey bag on the ground beside him. Just stopping after practice to take on the RCMP. Probably improved the smell of the bag slightly.

Re: picking things up, I am not sure if having your hands in your pockets makes you a target but I suspect it does, so the useful tip I can pass on is, if it's hitting the fan make fists. This will make it MUCH harder for you to instinctively grab at things. The extra step breaks the flow.

Best to not actually pick up any alleged tear gas or smoke grenade or projectile. Too hot. And there’s been a lot of use of flashbangs. The misfire rate on them is not zero. Only a matter of time before some damn fool bleeds out because they lost a hand

If you rock up in tac boots you have their attention. If you rock up in something vaguely fashion you're just another body even if it's classic (heavy!) Timbs or something. Thrift stores and vintage can be friends here.

Yeah that's always the conundrum. I mean in that case it wasn't even protestors, it was literally fucked-off locals coming out of their homes. Heavy-not-steel-toed boots -- if possible ones that look unremarkable or fashion -- is probably the best bet.

like seriously team, I know y'all are working on both improving Discover and on better reply sentiment filtering and all, but it's going to take a while to tune it properly and a "never show my post on Discover" setting would be a 10 minute fix that would get 65% of why people want private accounts
