People are returning in the thousands to their villages in Lebanon.

Land is not just property: It envelopes memory, community and identity.

In this unstable region, the concept of home transcends space and time.

It is existential. Personal. Political.

The answer is ready of course: “Israel has the right to defend itself”

Our lives have been a one long intractable war interrupted by short intervals of ceasefires and not the other way around. We will never know peace until liberation from Israel‘s oppression and domination.

I hope the ceasefire in Lebanon holds. But there will be no peace as long as Israel maintains this ludicrous right to preemptively attack sovereign states if it wishes so.

The death toll from tonight’s massacres in Gaza is nearing 100 people.

Yesterday, Al Jazeera journalist Hossam Shabat was injured in an Israeli double tap strike on a home in Gaza, where he had rushed to report on the first airstrike.

Shabat says he was deliberately targeted in the second airstrike, and he has reason to believe so.
