It's nothing deeper than Trump lashing out at an agency that didn't bend the knee back in 2020.

Their mistake was showing him any deference at all.

Definitely agree on these points.

Trump's actual crimes are many at this point, but his abuses of power and other impeachable offenses are overwhelming in number.

He doesn't have expert knowledge.

He's risen to a position well beyond his ability.

He needs to go, and the sooner the better.

We need a functioning CDC. And NIH and the rest of HHS.

Many of the tech bros do not have college degrees. They have no feel for how research science differs dramatically from putting out new software.

We can only hope that the nation continues to listen to actual scientists.

So far, the courts have been shooting down attempts by DHS to "issue regulations" restricting Congressional visits. I have little doubt that the administration keeps pushing this button to try to get a friendly ruling.

Regardless, the answer is not going to be found other than at the fed level.

Please cite evidence of any arrest of any federal employee by any state or local police for refusing admittance to a federal facility.

Trump is literally guilty of hundreds of crimes by now, most of which are easy to prove in a court of law.

Focusing on one charge which would be impossible to prove and which would distract the nation's attention from the multitude of crimes that he's actually guilty of would be a terrible idea.

America's conservatives used to believe in things like public schools, fire departments, science agencies, etc. But recent decades and the increasing amount of wealth imbalance have led the richest to view privatization as the answer to everything.
They are decidedly anti-empirical in this belief.

The truth is that they don't respect scientists.

They think that wealth is the ultimate sign of intelligence, and that scientists can be easily replaced.

Anybody who takes RFK's theories about science seriously is simply illiterate about science.

It's dogma that it is bad for the government to do anything. They might think that the private sector can do basic research.

This is a tested proposition and the truth is that the private sector is not interested in this.

Alternatively, it's just Lysenkoism. They elevate politics above science.
