Pinned
If they ever add pinned skeets, I'm pinning this.
For dumdum in chief, it's never stopped being the 80s.
Oddly, it was a privy cleaning position in Camelot.

The people yearn for (democratic) socialism (this one will make you cry)
Every game in this series is weird. This inning is a great example.
That's right. I said Gymkata.

Kids, ask your parents.
Announcer: [esoteric baseball statistic that requires a black belt in Gymkata to follow the logic of]

Me: Oooo, that _is_ interesting.
Being a Marlins fan? Prolly not.

HEYO!

One good thing about all of Microsoft's reliability problems today is the LinkedIn designers can see where their Dark Mode / Light Mode design systems break down.

HAPPENING NOW: Portland Police Commander Franz Schoening testifies that federal officers on Oct. 18 barraged protesters with crowd control munitions — not because of any violence but because another federal officer accidentally shot tear gas onto the roof of the ICE facility.

This seems like a much more interesting person than the motherfucker he turned out to be.
JD Vance changed his name, dressed in drag, married an immigrant, benefited from food stamps and was groomed by a neurotic, gay elitist.

None of this matters except he’s a dick who attacks everyone for all the same stuff he’s done. Hypocrites!

We are SO excited to be partnering with Bitch to bring pieces from their archives to the internet again. We believe in being in conversation with other feminist cultural critics and in fighting the slow erasure of our online history, something I wrote about for The Verge last year!
What happens when the internet disappears?
Huge swaths of the web are vanishing. What does that do to our culture?

If as many people subscribed to my podcast as email me to "congratulate me on my podcast" while trying to sell me things, I'd have a lot of subscribers.
Look at this piece of shit cop.

Next up, the obligatory "a few bad apples" press conference.
WTF 🤬

A police officer in Baltimore, Maryland, attempted to run over and kill a civilian who refused to answer their questions.
Do I know anyone in PDX who does theatre?

I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.
TBF, I fell victim to Sunk Cost on this thread.

It may have needed to be said, but probably not by me or by me now.

But I did all that typing! ... ...
Should those who seek public office be held to a higher standard than others? Yes.

Will that mean only those who can afford to meet those high standards (and set them in the first place) will make for "good" candidates? Yes.
honestly the only piece worth reading on the platner situation. @tressiemcphd.bsky.social is absolutely cooking here. (gift link)
Then again, that's a big ask for most people. Far easier to write someone off for good. And humans love their easy.

Which is a large part of how we've arrived at this moment. We've traded a lot for the sake of convenience, even though that convenience is not evenly distributed.
We should all have empathy for others, but having empathy does not (_should_ not) diminish the requirement to correct someone on their behavior and divest them the ability to have continued impact on others.
He should be forgiven for past mistakes. Like all of us, if we've done the work to correct ourselves.

But, I don't think that forgiveness allows then for someone to be hired to affect the lives of so many on a daily and future-impact basis.
I'd be disinclined to vote for Graham if I lived in ME. Someone who bows so easily to peer pressure (get a tattoo to fit in; my take on his words) isn't someone I'd want representing me, especially in these times.
