🧙‍♂️These three things, monks, are conducted in secret, not openly. What three? Affairs with women, the mantras of the brahmins, and wrong view.

Multiple airports are now announcing they will refuse to play Kristi Noem’s government-funded video blaming “Democrats” for the government shutdown.

“We believe the Hatch Act clearly prohibits use of public assets for political purposes and messaging,” one airport said.

what fantastic trip that movie was, like halfway through it felt like Willy Wonka's Wondrous Boat Ride

This is an interesting addendum because it's made in the context of leftists agreeing with Nazis… is a refusal to condemn Hamas common among Nazis?
matunos.bsky.social
Let's consider a more basic example: if I observe that the Earth revolves around the Sun, and most Nazis also observe that basic fact, would you characterize it as me agreeing with the Nazis?

Columbian Exchange Day is a great idea because it proves how much and how recently most national-cultural identities were constructed out of diverse global components.

If you can't imagine Italian, German, Korean, Indian, or any other national food without new world plants, what are they, really?

Perhaps instead of Columbus Day we can celebrate Columbian Exchange Day where we celebrate the food pairings that had never been possible before, peppers and onions, chocolate and coffee, basil and tomatoes.

My favorite aspect of the Columbus legend is him getting rejected by the Portuguese gets spun as them not recognizing the genius of his idea. No - he went into a roomful of expert navigators and made basic math mistakes, they thought he was a moron, and they wouldn't fund his idea on that basis.

ProPublica obtained records from the Department of Agriculture that detail the 94 million pounds of food, down to the number of eggs, that never reached food banks because of the #Trump administration’s cuts to The Emergency Food Assistance Program.

My latest video for @propublica.org.

We're seeing variants of this dynamic over and over (and over). These are not the words and actions of a disciplined, principled, and honorable government agent. They rather reflect the toxic mindset that holds that "if you're not cop you're little people" and "rules just get in the way."

This morning I was filming ICE abducting sometime in Petworth. One of the agents told me "the last US citizen that did this he put in cuffs all the way to the courtroom".

I might not find some political activism that compelling but I try to keep in mind Kwame Ture's point:

"You don't criticize somebody who's doing something when you doing nothing."

Since it is publicly known that ICE is taking people with legal authorization to be in the country (including citizens) based on characteristics such as apparent ethnicity and job, it's a reasonable belief that someone seeking safe harbor has legal authorization and hasn't committed any crime.

8 US Code § 1324's harboring provisions are predicated on "knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law"…

strategically useful too because it will make it nearly impossible for law enforcement to tie any particular outfit to an individual across multiple nights

One thing I haven’t seen reported about the ICE building protest: they have 10-20 costumes on a rack that anyone is free to use. Put it on, inflate it and protest!

we can get right on both, and neither is likely to be satisfied unless Democrats take back Congress
