Rain and t'storms will remain in the metro for the next couple of hours. This line is attached to a cold front, and when it passes, it will bring some much-needed cooler temps. Expect lows near 60° tonight and highs near 70° tomorrow as more seasonable conditions return. /MM
Northern Fayette Co is under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. Winds up to 60 mph, pea sized hail, lightning, and heavy downpours are hazards. Our severe threat remains low as this line moves out of the metro. /MM
8:30pm: Crittenden Co has been removed from the Severe Thunderstorm Watch. The rest of the metro remains under the watch, but our severe threat is very low at this point as the squall line has weakened. /MM
8pm - Heavy rain and t'storms are entering downtown Memphis. Strong wind gusts also remain a potential hazard. Expect the strongest of these storms to work through the metro for the next hour. /MM
7:15pm - Thunderstorms are entering far western parts of the metro, and light rain is starting to cross the river. Expect our severe threat to start picking up. Heavy rain, lightning, small hail, and winds up to 50 mph are possible. /MM
6:40pm - Light rain is approaching the MS river. Don't expect the severe threat to pick up for the metro until around 7:30, and it should wind down around 9pm. Rain will continue through midnight. /MM
As a squall line containing strong to severe t-storms moves into the metro, expect gusty winds, heavy rain, hail, and lightning. A tornado cannot be ruled out. The Severe Thunderstorm Watch expires at 1am. /MM
Unseasonably warm temperatures were in place ahead of this advancing cold front. While no rain has fallen to this point, expect heavy rain, thunder, and gusty winds in the metro this evening as strong to severe t-storms move through. /MM
6pm - Showers starting to move into the metro. Expect rain to reach the river at 7, with strong to severe t'storms possible until midnight. Expect strong wind gusts, lightning, and heavy downpours to be the primary hazards. /MM
5:15pm The approaching line of storms is weakening as it moves closer, but once it gets near/east of the MS River, an uptick in intensity is forecast. SPC says areas just to our north are likely to receive a watch box soon. Unknown if it will include parts of the metro.
4:30pm Storms in central AR are strong with Severe T'storm Warnings and an isolated Tornado Warning. The tornado threat is lower locally and the line will encounter slightly more stable air as it moves east. Still looking at storms with a wind threat between 7-10pm though.
