So here’s my latest labour of love, a piece on Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, one of my favourite films. Inevitably it’s subjective (I sobbed at the end of my recent rewatch!), but I don’t mind that & am quite happy with it. 🙂 beyondthatnextstar.blogspot.com/2025/06/laur... #TwinPeaks #DavidLynch

I’m very glad it’s lessened for you over time. I find it difficult because my health is fragile anyway and my body feels a lot older than it is! But I also have a sort of background worry about losing my partner, who almost died in 2014. I guess we all just have to be grateful for every day we have!

Agreed! Yes, I tend to be a S2 defender, but that aspect of it is really unfortunate. I like what they were trying to do, going deep into Picard’s psychology with the house as a metaphor for his buried memories & family history, but Yvette’s story wasn’t handled well. Must have hurt a lot of people.

(1/22) Yes, I realise that they’re holograms, & that Riker & Troi look the wrong ages. But I don’t feel it’s either new or clever for me to point out these things out, or the narrative awkwardnesses they cause. Instead I’d like to post about the things I do love about “These Are The Voyages…”

I know it should really be a harpsichord soloist, but I don’t care - I love the piano! 🎹 🎶

Funny, I am just reading an extended section on them in Carl Safina’s book, Becoming Wild!

Far Beyond the Stars is perfect in every way. The Visitor affects me the most personally, but FBTS is the ultimate masterpiece.

For me, it has fewer likeable characters than usual (all the Bertrams are awful!), but it’s still a wonderful novel. My favourite used to be Emma, but as I’ve grown older it’s Persuasion now. I couldn’t not take a photo of those dangerous steps on a visit to Lyme Regis!

I always loved that font, especially in the lovely colour from The Undiscovered Country.

She played Diane Selwyn/Betty Elms, the dreamer of a dream of Hollywood. And now Naomi Watts is on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her pal David Lynch would be proud! 🎥 ⭐️ #MulhollandDrive #TwinPeaks

It always amazes me that they went to the time & trouble & money of creating prosthetics to background characters in that way. Quark & Odo are arguing, & an alien we’ve never seen before walks past & is probably never seen again!

I once saw a shop sign and read it as Snoopy’s Massage Parlour. I can’t remember what it really was, but it was nothing like that! Even weirder is that I’ve remembered it all these years. 😂
